July 2012 Weddings

Wake up ladies :-)

Were so quiet this morning!!

Are we excited to get married? What are you most scared about?
I'm stoked, I can't wait to marry my bestfriend!
The biggest peeve that I'm most scared about would be my reception hall screwing up our balance. FI and I went to put half the balance down on our reception hall and the lady i'm working with said we owed $2k yet. Turned out she never subtracted the $1k that we originally put down. She also wasn't able to give us a price on our linens till she ordered them. I'm so scared their going to be another grand :-(

Also, Goodluck to all the wonderful ladies getting married this weekend :-)
Best wishes, and come back with lots of pictures! We all love seeing the beatiful pictures!

  • I'm up!

I'm the most scared of suffocating in my dress in the heat. I usually start to freak out if it gets too hot and if I'm in something really tight!

hmmmmmm I am just worried about things that make no sense. Like, my photographers forget we are getting married, or my mom doesn't bring her dress, or I forget to wear any of my jewelry.

I also tend to get really sweaty legs (sorry, I know that's kind of gross) and my massively layered and ruched skirt is heavy and hotttttt.
  • mekiakoo - I'm the same way! The dress will be sticking to my sweaty body and i'll just want to rip my dress off - I can see it already! :(

butterfly- I'm so scared i'll forget FI ring and my bridal wrap! The rings are in their boxes but their in our safe. We never go in the safe unless its for a Credit Card.. which we barely even use them anymore. ahhhh That would suck!!!

Yup I am nervous for this too.  I was hot just trying the dress on in the store.  I bought baby powder that I plan to use several times that day :)

  • I'm getting scared for FI's brother (BM)'s toast. He's an immature 21-year old and apparently one of his jokes is "FI bought Liz a kitty for Christmas so now he gets pussy". Not okay. And not true- we have a great sex life! We're meeting with the DJ tomorrow and making sure the mic can be turned off if the toast heads in that direction.... so stressed that he's going to embarass me in front of 200 people!

same thing happened to me! it was especially hot at my first fitting last month and I literally had sweat dripping down my legs just after 30 minutes of getting my bustle and neckline pinned. AWFUL! baby powder is a definite must!
  • toomanychoices - I would totally kill him! That's rediculous and totally inappropriate, ecspecially for a wedding! I pray for you that they can turn the mic off if the toast turns that direction!

Since were on the subject of toasts... Who all makes the toasts at the wedding?
Just the Matron of Honor, Best Man and the father of the bride? Or can anyone do it? I was asked who was all making toasts and I totally didn't know the answer to their question Undecided

I'm worried about this too. I'm just going to wear spanks to prevent my legs from sticking together. At my first fitting I forgot to wear them and my legs were so sweaty. At my second fitting, I wore my spanx and I didn't feel any sweat. Does baby powder really work? I think it would be annoying to keep having to reapply it. I have a trumpet style dress so it's not very easy to hike up.

I am freaking out about the getting hot in the dress too. I went and bought the under short things but that made it even hotter so I guess I am just going to douse myself with baby powder.

Can't get motivated today. Off to get my hair colored in an hour but not able to get motivated to do anything else. I need to get organized, I think if I do that I will feel better and less overwhelmed. Anyone else feel like that? I don't know why, I really don't have too much left to do.

  • I also heard rubbing deodorant on your thighs can help with the chaffing too.

Oh, wow. Not okay and totally inappropriate. Imagine all of the older folks reactions to this...yikes.

  • toomany - that is so inappropriate.

My sister (MOH), the best man, and us are making speeches at dinner.  My dad is not really one to get up and make a speech so we are just going to say thanks, I think.  I need to double check with him on that one still.  Nobody wants to give me answers on anything and says oh do what you want and it is super frustrating!

I am not motivated to do anything today and I still have to work all day tomorrow and Thursday as well.  This week at work is crawling by!

    Anniversary
  • FI has been keeping his cool lately while i'm running around like a mad women. Last night he said he was starting to get nervous because all eyes will be on him at the ceremony and reception.

So I doubt he'll want to make a speech at the reception to thank everyone. Do you think its in our best interest to make a speech or is walking around thanking everyone just as good?

I'm sure once FI gets alcohol flowing through him he will be fine, but i'm not positive.

  • Toomanychoices - does he have to give a speech at all?  Maybe you could request he give a speech at the RD instead of the reception.

I also worry about being hot in my dress, but I think my biggest worry is about the pictures before the wedding.  We want to take them all before the wedding, including first look photos.  Since our wedding party is pretty small, it should be doable, but I'm worried about people running late or not doing what the photographer asks - in particular the IL's who have a lot planned for the week of the wedding, who were trying to plan things before the wedding as well.
  • I'm worried about being hot in my dress. It's so thick and heavy. I keep watching the extended forecast, it started out at 69 which I thought would be fine then, it went to 63 which I thought was even better but now it's at 73! ACK!

Most of you probably think I'm crazy thinking 73 is hot but you have to remember I'm from Seattle : )

Also, the people that will be making toasts are my dad, best man, matron of honor possibly and FI will say a few words as well.
