Hair Opinions

I'm messing around with what to do for my wedding day hair (not because we are getting close, just because new hair styles are fun!). I want it up and out of my business day of and have recently been liking some french twists. I have curly hair and would like to make it less of a sleek french twist and more of the crazy that I have going on. What are your opinions for the below, obviously I would take more time and situate the curls better. I am also thinking some kind of hair piece like a comb with pearls to put in the side where the twist comes together.

Is this too casual?

  • I don't think its too casual.  I love the curls in the back.  If you want to fancy it up a comb with pearls or some sparkle will definitely do the trick.  Also, I love your ring (profile pic), its gorgeous.
  • Thank you! I was thinking something like that on the side that it twists into?

  • I like it. Only idea for that would be using a product that really defines your curls and don't pull them back so tight that it straightens out your curls. This way you have will beautiful wavy hair with some loose curls on top. Add the pretty comb you mentioned and I think you will look beautiful.
  • It depends on your preference. Honest opinion? It looks casual to me. With visible bobby pins up top and like back is thrown up.

I think you could play around with it a bit more. Are you wearing a veil? If not, I would play around with styles that incorporate a hair piece/comb/pin. If you're doing your hair yourself, the hair piece will distract from the fact that it's not professionally done.

  • Thanks! This was absolutely done pretty quickly without a lot of product, just playing around with shapes/ideas so the final run will be much cleaner. I totally agree about the visible bobby pins on top (I'm currently growing out my bang and have until January so they will fit all the way back and there will be no need for them). I'm not wearing a veil and I want to get a hair piece kind of like the pic below, just waiting on the dress to be in my closet before I start ordering something like that.

I have a couple other ideas, I'll mess around with all of them more and come back for more opinions!

  • I do like the classic sleek look, however, my wedding is in the winter on a mountain so there is a good chance of snow. I have very curly hair so if I straighten it to make it sleek and go in the snow that is a recipe for FRIZZ!

  • I really like that clip - I think it'll do a lot for that general style. And you have time to practice!

  • Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to buy a cheap comb in the style I am thinking to mess with ideas and placement on it.. I will for sure be coming back with ideas that you all can help me pick from!

I think it would make all the difference to tuck in the curls at the top, as much as I love the curls. I think it's too casual unless you are getting married in a sundress!

I think french twists look more put together on straight hair and really neat. There are a lot of other styles you could do that are easy and go better with curly messy hair!!!

  • Another look idea to maybe try if your hair is long enough is to do a low lose bun with your defind curls. I think that is another look you could rock & do easily yourself.

I do this for work a lot so I've got this one down.. that is another option I am playing with! My hair is almost down to my waist but I want it up on the day of the wedding off the dress because I love the dress!

  • Love it. Maybe have a few stray curls out.
