So... I accidentally found my wedding present

I am very excited, but I wish I hadn't ruined the surprise! Dan has been out of town for almost two months now, and the other day I went looking through his drawers to try to find one of his shirts (I wanted to wear it, lol). And in one of the drawers I noticed a box, and it looked just like the box his ring is in (from the same place, blue nile). and i was like, that's weird, i thought his ring was on our headboard. so i opened the box and saw a pair of pearl earrings! I am really excited, because I am pretty sure he will be giving this to me as my wedding present. I just wish I hadn't gone looking for that shirt. (I never did find it anyway).

I haven't told him, and I'm not sure if I will or not (after he gives them to me of course). I just thought it was a little funny.

I stumbled across my xmas gifts like that too and as exciting as it is, it sucks cuz the surprise is ruined. At least you know the thought was there and that's what really counts

Awww! Well its not like you were snooping, you honestly thought it was something else! So are you going to tell him or act surprised???

I sorta had this happen with our engagement. Fi kept telling me my xmas gift had something to do with his wallet and I was not allowed to look there. One day he ran out without his wallet and I picked it up and I couldn't NOT look. I found a card for a jeweler, and was like OMG! But then I thought maybe he got me a necklace or something so I still wasnt sure what he was up to.

.... I kinda found out about my engagement ring... my FI accidentally left the ring insurance information in his pocket and I found it when I was doing laundry. So needless to say, I knew I was getting engaged very soon once I found that. Thankfully I didn't know what the ring looked like though. To this day he still doesn't know I found it and I will never tell him. He was so excited to "surprise" me with the ring and I dont want to ruin that for him.

My FI found his wedding present. He, however, did not know it was for his wedding present and now he keeps asking to have it.

What happened was, I bought it and he came home early. So, I couldn't bring it in. I hid it in my car-IN THE FRONT SEAT! The next day I asked him to get something out of the BACK SEAT. He looked in the front first. He says he saw it and immediately thought he shouldn't be seeing it and put it back.

He didn't say anything, but as soon as I got in my car I knew what happened and called. I asked if he saw somethinghe shouldn't have, and he said he "may have." The next day though he started asking for it.

I don't know if I should just give it to him and get something else, or wait.

My advice is don't tell him, and try to forget it! It really sucks knowing that he knows!

From the other side of it...FI figures out my surprises for him ALL the time and it is so frustrating. I suggest not telling him you know just because keeping a surprise is almost as hard and as energy consuming as thinking of the idea and getting it etc. Everytime FI tells me he knows/knew (even if it is after the fact) I'm totally disappointed and it takes the excitement level down a notch. I'm all for open and honest relationships but this is a white lie to me and sometimes I just wish FI would fake surprised and let me be non-the-wiser. Pearl earrings were so sweet of him though! What a great wedding gift!

I saw my Ering a couple weeks before FI proposed. I didn't know how long he had been holding onto it so I just pretended I didn't see it and tried to let it go. Not going to lie, I was constantly thinking 'is this the time, is this the time' when we'd go on dates and stuff! Best part is that the only weekend I assumed WOULDN'T be the time (we went on a weekend trip for his bday) and he proposed right on his bday lol

I found out about my e-ring. FI was supposed to pick me up after work and was 2 hours late because the jeweler was late to meet with him. I was livid, so he told me and then I was able to figure out when he went to ask my parents, and when he was going to propose. I felt bad, he's really into surprises and I'm really good at figuring them out.

I knew about my ring before he proposed. I never found it but I knew the night that he did propose that he was going too. Opps. I did not tell him that I knew becuase I wanted to keep it the way he wanted it as a surprise. I told him afterwards that I knew and it was good. He said he kinda thought I did so it was all good.

thanks for the perspective! i don't think i will tell him, it's not that big of a deal really.

this is also something i never really told him, because i'm not sure how he would react, but i wished that we would get engaged when we did. it was the perfect scenario that i had dreamed up months before we got engaged (did anyone else do that? think up a bunch of different ways that he could propose? i totally did).

he proposed on our anniversary in the place where we had one of our first dates, so obviously i had thought of it before. however, on the day we got engaged, i figured it wasn't coming because we were about to close on our house and i knew he didnt have any money so i thought it would be a year after that. and the events just sort of seemed to fall into place (originally we were just going to do dinner, but then that got delayed so we sqeezed in mini golf), so i figured he couldn't have planned that all out. but secretly in my head on the drive over there, i was looking at my hand and i was thinking "this could be the last time you drive without a ring on your finger." i just figured it was a crazy long stretch idea and it wouldn't really happen, but it did! i haven't told him that i sort of thought of it though.

FI had the ring box opened and would look at the ring as he was driving home after he picked it up. So when he got home, he put it in his front jacket pocket. Then he hugged me. It's a little hard not to notice a huge box shaped lump in a pocket while you're hugging. So I knew. But then he made me wait a month before he proposed. Every day I was like, "Is this the day?" nope.

So sweet that your FI got you pearl earrings as wedding gift. I wouldn't tell him you found them, though. That'll probably just make him sad.

I found out about my e-ring before he proposed. I thought he was up to something because he had been going places by himself and I had notice that the credit card he had gotten from the jewelry store was not where he usually kept it. Then one night we were at a friend's house around the 4th of July and it became topic when he was going to ask me. His friend was talking about a conversation he had with my fiance where he thought I had found the papers for it because he couldn't find them. Needless to say i knew it was coming and it was just a matter of when.

I wouldn't tell him either. FI will never know that I found out he was planning to propose beforehand. We were taking a trip to Prague for New Year's and I couldn't remember the name of the hotel we had booked so I did a search on his computer and up popped an email from him to the hotel asking for a nice room because he "might" be proposing on NY's. The proposal was still so awesome though! And we've talked about it and he's asked if I had a clue and I said, well, kinda because what better time to do it than on NY's with fireworks going off in Prague??
