At my previous employer, there was an 800 number that you could use to reach the company or you could dial our area code. If you combined the 800# with the other 7 digits for our local #, you dialed a gay sex line. We all chuckled when customers would call and exclaim, "You'll never guess what happened when I dialed this #!"

Well as of the end of December I no longer work for that company and I now have a completely different work phone number. If you dial 800 plus the other 7 digits of my phone number, you get another sex line!!!

No, I did not test this myself.

My college number had something similar. The main number was a toll free 888 number. If they dialed it as 800 with the toll free number they got a sex line, though I don't believe it was gay sex.

Not to threadjack, but I get pretty awkward/blushy with dirty talk as well. DH is sometimes abroad for weeks at a time for work and phone is all we have. It's gotten a LOT better, but I was terrible at first. I felt like I was giving my first blow job - just awkward and probably awful.

I work in recruiting, and about 5 years ago, a peer if mine was setting up a phone interview. We had teleconference numbers we could use for these purposes.

Apparently when he sent the interview confirmation, he wrote 877 instead of 866 (or something like that)... Which also turned out to be a sex hot line. He was sooo incredibly mortified when the hiring Director called to tell him what happened. He to this day gets teased for that one.

Yes. What's more amusing is that at the old company, there was a prompted # before you reached a human. So the dude KNEW he had the wrong number but decided to stay on to...play?

Potential TMI, but I happen to be fabulous at dirty-talk, and every once in a while I joke to FI that I'm going to work for a sexline for some extra cash. "Just get me a Bluetooth and I'll do it while I'm making dinner. I don't see the problem."

At work about 5 years ago my co worker (who is old enough to be my mother) and I were trying to find the tech support number for a very old piece of equipment. We found the manual and called the number and it was a sex hotline.

She was the one that called and her face was priceless.

Slight spin off...found out 10 years ago that my first name maiden last name are the same as a pseudonym used by an author CA who happens to write very very graphic sex novels and short stories. Found out when dad bought me a copy of one of the books without realizing what it was about....that was a fun dinner conversation for me....
