I work with a genius. . . she keeps creating facebook groups for fabulous beer seasons.  First we had an autumnal beer group, and now we have a summer brew group/event.  The basic premise is that members post pictures of their fabulous summer beers and what they like or don't like about them.  Maybe it's a little lame to some, but I love it.

Anyway, I tried an AMAZING beer last night.  I shared with the group, and I want to share with my knottie friends too. . . . . Anderson Valley's Summer Solstice.  The owner of the beer distributor recommended it to me.  It's a little heavier than most summer beers I think of, almost creamy. . . it tastes just like cream soda!  I highly recommend it.

    H and I have been in an IPA mood lately and went to Yard House on Friday. Had their sampler and had a few brews local to Florida (my fav). Hop Gun is one of my favorites so I got to have that one again, and tried the Wynwood one from Miami. 

    Favorite of the bunch though was of course the Dogfish head 60 minute (IDK why I haven't had this one yet after all I've heard about it). H really enjoyed the Hercules Double. 

    I'm not supposed to have beer because of the wheat content, but ever now and then I cheat (and pay for it later). It's worth it. Especially when cheese is involved.

    Oh that sounds yummy! I love summer beer (and fall beer and winter beer and spring beer)!

    One of my favorite seasonal beers is Abita Strawberry. And I'm glad that it is being shipped to beer stores near me.

    Abita strawberry is good stuff.  I like their purple haze too.

    H is a big fan of 21st Amendment Hell or  High Watermelon beer.  I've had it and its pretty good.  If we can find a local place where its on tap, they serve it with fresh watermelon!  H loves it with BBQ of any kind!  He says they go together well.

    I'm a big fan of Lienkel's (SP?) Berryweis.  It's so good!  Sometimes hard to find it in its own 6 pack.  Most places sell it in Lienkel's assorted summer beer pack.

    Also, Angry Orchard's seasonal has honey in it and its yummy!

    @kaos16 I've been wanting to try the Anderson Valley Summer Solstice! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

    My current go-to summer beers (aside from the local craft ones I love) are the Southern Tier Hop Sun and Sierra Nevada Summerfest. I got overly excited about a month ago when I started seeing all the summer beer on the shelves and my favorites back on tap at the bar. I love all beer year round but the summer ones are the best.

    A lot of the fruit beers are too sweet for me (I came up on Leinie's Berry Weiss and Sunset Wheat [blueberry] and now they basically taste like candy to me).

    But I LOVE the Shiner Ruby Redbird--it has just a hint of grapefruit flavor, but still tastes like BEER, which I approve of. 

    In a similar vein, the Great South Bay Blood Orange Pale Ale is also really delicious. Citrusy and orangey, but not sweet.
