Inner Envelope- How to list people invited.

I am getting ready to start my invitation and I keep seeing posts on here in regards to how to address people invited. I'm seeing that the outer envelope isn't what lists who is invited (which is how I thought it was) but the inner envelope is where peope should be listed. We are not inviting children so I do want to make sure who is actually invited is clear. The problem is our inner envelopes are black and folded with a ribbon around them, I obviously was not thinking of this ediquette when we picked out our invitations. So now I'm stuck with how and where do I list who is invited?? I really do not want to have to list each indivitual on the invitation itself as that can be pricey instead of just having a certain amount of all the same invitations printed, if we need each one to be different that adds up. Any suggestions....?

Buy a silver or white pen that will write on black envelopes and write the names of the people invited.  John and Susie Smith on the inner envelope, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith on the outer.  Done and done.

On the outer envelope you list whatever will get it to the right mailing address.

On the inner envelope, you would list a traditional married couple as Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. If she has a different last name, you list them as Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jane Doe. If they aren't married, you put

    Ms. Jane Doe
    Mr. John Smith

Then list invited children by seniority, as in

    Miss Lisa Smith
Mr. Thomas Smith (Or traditionally "Master" instead of "Mr." but this is rate as boys tend not to like it.)

Once they're adults, though, they get their own invitations and are invited together with their SOs. Other adult social units living in the household get their own invitations.
