Catholic Ceremony Question

I'm just curious if anyone has heard that you cannot do the "you may kiss the bride" at the end of the mass? My soon to be mother in law thought she heard this from a priest in our parish. I'm curious if it's a new "rule" from our bishop or maybe she didn't hear correctly. Thanks for your help!!

It never was part of the marriage rite. Some priests follow the rules closer than others.

It honestly doesn't really make sense for the priest to "give permission" to kiss anyway.

Ours just announced us - "I now introduce to you for the first time Mr. & Mrs. MesmrEwe"  - we actually planned ahead of time to do "the kiss" in the back of the church just as my parents had done...  It's really not a part of the mass and also, not your chance to "get it on" at the end of the ceremony even though our priest stated that is when if we were going to do a tasteful in church kiss that it'd be the appropriate time...
