We always talk about horrible weddings (which is always fun reading) but I want to take a moment to talk about a great wedding this weekend.
A long time friend of mine who hasn't had the greatest upbringing or family has been engaged 3+ years to a great guy. They wanted to have children and knew my friend has some health issues that may make it hard to impossible, they started trying right away and put the wedding on the back burner. After over a year of the first steps of IVF and causing my friend to get so sick she was hospitalized they decided adoption was the best choice for them.
The adoption has been a long, expensive and exhausting process for them so the wedding continue to stay on the back burner. Things started falling into place over the winter as they finally got full custody of their little boy. But the legalities and court date were still a year away.
Well all of a sudden their court date was pushed up to June! And my friend realized she wanted to be married before so they all have the same last name. She planed the wedding in 1 month! It was beautiful, well hosted and so much love. I can't think of a single faux pas - seating for every guest, open bar (rare in Mass), less then an hour cocktail hour/no gap. It had great food, great venue and was just a very special day.
The part I found interesting was a mutual acquaintance commented to me before the wedding. "why wouldn't she just go to the JOP and have the real wedding later when she has more time to plan" ARGHHHHHH
So this story if just another example of a well hosted event with the proper priorities planned in a month! It is possible!
