Post-Interview Nerves

Hello!

I'm in the midst of a big career change, and I've had a few interviews (yay!), but I have anxiety (not yay!) so waiting to hear back from offices after I interview is really getting to me. The job I interviewed for is amazing and everything that my current job isn't. Stressors in the last few days of my current job are sort of exacerbating my anxiety, and I'm afraid of taking it out on FI when I'm not meaning to.

Do any of y'all know of ways to keep post-interview nerves at bay? Let me know!

Re: Post-Interview Nerves

  • Last time I switched jobs, I waited a month to get an offer. It worked for me to just stay busy so I didn't think about it to death. Luckily, we were in the middle of wedding planning at that point, so I had a lot to occupy my mind. If you don't have something big going on, try to learn something new you've been wanting to take up.

  • OP you and I are in the same boat. I have been trying to move internal to my company for months! I have an interview tomorrow for a position I would love to have and I am scared. I applied for a similar position a few months ago but it fell through. (The company dissolved it before offers were made.) So needless to say I am TRYING not to get my hopes up.

Also like you I have been having some rocky roads in my current position that makes me want out even more. I am just trying to keep breathing and remember that usually this stuff works out like it is supposed to.
  • I don't know what to tell you other than to be patient and try to find distractions. Also, if you haven't done so already, I recommend following-up with interviewers to thank them for their time and offer to answer any further questions they may have. You could do that with an email or a handwritten note. I vote note generally or maybe even both.

  • I wish I had advice, I'm currently waiting on offers from TWO companies.  One is doing a background check so it is almost a sure thing, the other is 50/50 as it is down to me and one other person.  I've been waiting a week for both of them and it is driving me nuts.  I should hear something by the end of the week.
