Reading Rainbow & other randoms

DD's school year is winding down, and yesterday when I picked her up she was all excited: "We got to watch a video after recess! It was this thing called Reading Rainbow, and..."

I listened, but y'all, she did not need to tell me about Reading Rainbow. I loved Reading Rainbow, with a passion. (Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain? Three Days on a River in a Red Canoe? Heaven.) I actually sang the whole theme song in the car, while DD stared at me (mostly baffled) and DS applauded. (When I was done, he said "Yaaaaay!" My biggest fan.) I have to look when I get home and see if it's on Netflix/Amazon Prime, because if it is, I will officially die of happiness. (Anyone know?) Reading Rainbow forever!

I just ordered Kapiti Plain and Red Canoe from Amazon, and I cannot wait for them to arrive. Y'all, James Freaking Earl Jones read Kapiti Plain, and I had no idea because I was just a little kid. But I knew it was awesome, just the same.

You didn't mention, so I'm not sure if you know but this sounds like the first rollout of the new Reading Rainbow Burton started with the monies from Kickstarter. I think I'm still correct in saying that it was the fastest funded Kickstarter ever and one of the biggest. Basically b/c like you and others like us, we couldn't throw our money at him fast enough:

I loved Reading Rainbow too. I remember the whole theme song.

I'm watching Entourage for the first time. It's good to have on while working...Total dudebro fest. Adrian Grenier is not believable as a big movie star...at all.

They broke ground next door today. I hope the new neighbors will be OK. At the best, we can be friends and at the worst, they will keep to themselves.

I met some other neighbors last night. They were really nice. They have a 7 week old baby who's super cute and the wife and I have the same first name.

DH applied for a job in a different division of his old company.

i distinctly remember "liang and the magic paintbrush" as the first time i had seen a children's book in english that had asian kids in it.

i had some korean children's books, but they were all in korean or the content was korean. this was the first asian-american children's book i had ever seen.

reading rainbow was one of my first lessons in diversity.
