Wedding Woes

TGIF

All of my Friday things are random.

DD was freezing at swim yesterday, her coach sent her home early because she started shivering.

I am so tired, and I don't even know why.  I didn't stay up late, but I just can't seem to get going this morning.

Re: TGIF

  • It's wedding weekend.  We are leaving this afternoon to go get the tuxes and then get to the rehearsal.  I still have to pack everything...
  • Good luck with the wedding, taw!

Oh, and other Friday randoms:  DD really wants a kitten for her birthday, DH and I are on the fence.  She's wanted one for like two years.
  • Taw!!  Have a blast!

This weekend...We are getting a new stereo in the Acadia tomorrow.  I cannot wait to have one that doesn't short out all.the.time.

I have a hair appt tomorrow.  I think I'm going to get some purple. Maybe some pink too, but definitely some purple.

No idea on the rest of the weekend and that's OK. It's going to be great weather.  :)

Um... doesn't ever little girl want a kitten?

Have fun Taw.  Oh weddings...fun times.  :)

Oh Conn, I want pictures of your hair, that sounds loverly.

H and I are both astonished that we don't have any real plans, so we're on a mini strike and staying as close to home as possible this weekend.

A friend did invite me out tonight, but I've been exhausted this week and I don't know if I'll make myself go or not.  I might be hoping for some rain...just so I don't have to be the lame-o that cancels.
  • Heffa, I thought you guys had a cat already?  If you do, how much would the age difference be?  Does older cat already seem to be chill enough for another one?  I don't like cats, but I love me some kittens, they're so cute.

5.5 hours until I am out of here for my vacation!  A full glorious 9 days off and at home doing nothing!  We're going on a float trip later in the week, but that's it.  I've got some things I need to work on at home.  And it'd be nice if I could finally beat this cold; it's leaving me terribly drained.

I keep thinking we have plans, but I can't remember/find anything.  I know we're trying disc golf on Sunday if I feel up to it.  I fully intend to be drinking during the outing.

We were at my folks last night. Came home, open the microwave to heat some lunch and found a carton of sour cream. I've lost 2 out of 3 pool cards.

We have a make up ball game tonight and another tomorrow. DH and 6let are going to the Crew game after that.  I have a baby shower Sunday.

  • Have fun, Taw.

  • DK and I have a date night tonight ( Avengers and dinner at the theater).

Tomorrow we're going to check out puppies, and pick out which one we want. (We saw the litter at 1 week old, so we wanted to be able to see more of their personalities and get to play with them before we chose.) Puppy will likely be coming home next weekend. After the puppies, DK has a brewing event, and I might take Wolverine to get some craft supplies - she likes making bracelets for people, so I was thinking some pony beads are in order.

Sunday : ??? probably just trying to relax and empty out the DVR - we're supposed to get new boxes installed next week, so we need to watch the recorded stuff or lose it.

I'm definitely squee-ing internally at your puppy picking Barbie.  I'm assuming you're getting another mastiff, or am I hallucinating when I think you mentioned it or showed pictures?

Also, friend who invited me out may be going home early sick, so I'll probably just do a house-call which is more my style.  That way I can come over freshly showered with some drinks in tow and we'll just sit and chat.  :)
  • We're getting another bullmastiff. If the parents are any indication, this one will end up bigger than Rogue, and she was huge. Mom was in the 140s, dad was in the 160s. He was a gorgeous red with a black mask and 100% muscle, and the mother was a dark black brindle. We're getting one of the female puppies - likely a brindle, so she won't look as much like Rogue. One of the little brindle females has a tiny white spot on her head - she was my favorite from the initial meeting, but they were too young for us to handle them. The litter was 12 puppies, so I'm kind-of hoping we get to play with all of them at once - just get mobbed by puppies. I had a few pics up on my FB page, but I don't think I can link them on TK.

The breeder also has goats, and told us she'd have babies when we came to see the dogs again. Wolverine is crazy excited about puppies and baby goats.

I happened to be browsing local shelters when I saw that one of them had a goat.  I have wanted a goat pretty much my entire adult life.  Alas, I'm pretty sure the HOA considers them livestock, which are banned.  But, goats!

(S/O livestock, apparently when we were at swim practice the other day, a calf from the pasture on the other side of our woods got loose, took a stroll down our street, and then ran between our house and the neighbors' to find his/her way back to mama cow.  We were sorry to have missed that, it was the talk of the bus stop the next morning.)

We do have another cat.  We had as many as three at one point, but the two oldest have passed away over the past several years (18 and 19, respectively), and our remaining cat is middle aged.  Which is part of why we're on the fence.  Our cat has been extremely patient with human babies, so maybe she'd be equally good with a kitten, or maybe not.  Cats are such a crapshoot as to whether they like each other or not, and I'm afraid if they hated each other, Wooz would be crushed if we had to rehome the kitten.  Bu we don't want cat wars in our house for the next 10+ years, either.

We've explained to Wooz that while kittens are adorable, they don't stay kittens for long, and we already have a cat.  She says she understands, and wants a cat of her very own.  Which I get, in theory, but cats have a way of deciding who they belong to, KWIM?  (I rescued our current one and am the one who feeds her 90% of the time, and yet she barely gives me the time of day compared to DH.  Cats.)

We're leaning against it, but then I drive to work past this billboard, and from my shelter volunteering past, I know it's kitten season and the poor shelters are overflowing with kittens, and then Wooz says she doesn't care if she gets anything else for her birthday as long as she gets a kitten, and I smoosh just a little bit.image

our breeder is out in the country (about an hour from us) - so livestock is ok. Our HOA would have a fit, too.
  • The house we are looking at has no HOA and we were joking this weekend we should just get a goat to keep the backyard trimmed up. But seriously, baby goats are adorable and I would not mind one at all.
