Wedding Woes

I have names!

I thought DD's swim team might be a treasure trove, but DH and I were discussing how there seem to be a ton of Ellas and Jacks and Audreys, and nary a Xanax to be found.  Then I got an email listing the kids who haven't signed up for this Saturday's meet, and I saw this trio, all with the same last name, so presumably siblings:

Britain

Kayser

Maverick

I don't care for any of them individually, and together they are quite the trifecta.

Re: I have names!

  • Mr. Conn's FB name is Maverick, but that's because he doesn't want to be found.  :)

    Kayser gets all the nopes.
  • is kayser one of those germans you know?

  • Wolverine had a Maverick in her gymnastics class. We made a lot of Top Gun jokes.

Not personally, but their last name looks pretty German.  Maybe they thought Britain would balance it out?  I wonder if when they fight, Britain trounces Kayser, just like IRL?
  • DD's new friends across the street from my mom are Kingston and Boston. I hope their parents have more kids because I'm dying to know what they'd name it. Maybe London, Brooklyn, or Pittsburgh? I'm rooting for Pittsburgh.

The good news is that the universe balances itself. The kids next door to Kingston and Boston are Katie and Abby.

  • Keyser = Kaiser (King).  Other language versions would be Roy, LeRoy.  I'm not fond of it, either.

When I was a teacher, I had students with the names Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Lincoln, Corvette, Chrysler, Detroit, and, of course, Mercedes.

See? It's perfect! The girl has a guaranteed spot as a stripper if nothing goes right in life.

As for all the "kayser" variations, the whole mess of them are derived from the Latin "caesar", and you all know how everyone likes to mimic the Romans, so it became synonymous with king and many languages used a variant for their ruler. Tsar, Cesarz, Kaiser... blame those pesky Romans.

Mercedes was a name first. The car company is named after the daughter of the founder.

Wow, they're all over the place, ideologically.
