AW: Colorado Vacation- lots of pictures

I'm backkk! Swamped at work, but wanted to take some time to share the good, and frustrating from my trip.

To start: The Good
- All my prepping worked and I didn't have any altitude sickness.
- I used my company discount for a rental car and paid for a regular car.  The lot was full of SUVs so they upgraded us for free
- It was absolutely gorgeous. Pictures seriously don't even show how gorgeous it was.
- The weather was perfect all week.
- The house we stayed in was a freaking mansion.  It had 6 bedrooms and each bedroom had its own private bathroom.  So even though we were staying with the whole family, we had our own little place away from everyone else.
- I finally got to meet all of my bf's family, and had so much fun with all of them
- My bf was wrong, ceremony was not first thing in the morning and there was no early morning hike.

Time for the snark...
- I spent most of the trip in the car because my bf was sent the wrong vest.  After spending an entire day driving all over the place to find any kind of grey vest, we gave up because Jcrew said they were having one sent first thing in the morning.  It didn't show up until that evening (after the wedding), but it turns out 2 of the others groomsmen were also sent the wrong vest.  So it looked like it was done on purpose.
- Ceremony and reception sites were two hours apart.  Ceremony site was gorgeous, but outside with no shade spots.  We drove two hours for a 20 minutes ceremony, took pictures, then drove another 2 hours to the reception.
- Reception venue was open to public (they were supposed to go to second floor, but since they could walk right in there were several non-wedding guests at the bar).
- They had a head table.  So I was placed at a table with the groom's college friends, outside on the deck.  We couldn't see anything from our seats, so we had our own party.

Overall it wasn't horrible and we had fun. Getting up early Friday to catch our flight was rough.  Ok, picture time.  The first picture is where the ceremony was located. Second picture is the Sky mountains (can kind of still see where it spells out SKY). Third picture is the view from the plane Friday morning. Fourth through seventh pictures are from the drive through the canyons.  Eighth and Ninth pictures are from the house we stayed at. Tenth is the sunset from the plane on our way to Colorado.

Beautiful!!! I hate the head table thing. I had the exact same thing happen to me at a wedding. The guy I was dating was in the wedding and he was at the head table seated with the bridesmaid he was paired up with. Me and the other SOs were off by ourselves.

  • The pictures are gorgeous but omg a 2 hour drive each way? That's crazy. Were there any non WP guests that just showed up to one or the other?

Also I'm sorry that you couldn't sit with your BF and couldn't see anything from your table. The last wedding that I went to was like that (FI and I were seated together but our tables felt like an after thought shoved up on a balcony with no view of anything) and we missed a lot of things as a result.

  • So pretty!  I hate the head table thing too...I never got why couples wouldn't realize that SOs should sit with each other.
  • I was more irritated with being stuck on the deck instead of with everyone else. @aurorarose41 There was a hiking trail by the ceremony site, but luckily no crashers there.  The reception had a bunch since the first thing you saw when you walked into the building was the bar.

  • Gorgeous pics! Driving 2 hours to the reception and then getting seated outside without your SO is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds like you made the best of it though!

  • That house is amazing!! Sucks about the head table and two hour drive, but glad you had a great time!
    friends tv show funy
  • You have re-strengthened the desire I've always felt to visit Colorado. The scenery aaaaaalmost seems worth the hassle of that douche-tastic wedding set-up. I'm glad you were able to make the most of it though!

  • hahahahaa douche-tastic
