Stratosphere 107 lounge V Mandarin Bar?

Hi all, I'm currently torn between these 2 for after our wedding reception and limo tour from around 10.30pm, any recommendations or experience of either?

There will be 30 of us and both minimums are pretty similar - $35 per person plus half price appetisers at Stratosphere and $40 including food and drink at Mandarin Bar. Once the minimum is reached we'll close the open bar and everyone will buy their own drinks.

Any thoughts? I wish I could nip over and view both venues but that's not possible from the UK unfortunately!
Thank you

  • Where is your ceremony and reception? I would go with the one that is closer so you don't have to shuttle everyone around.

I'm biased because I haven't been to the Statosphere but the Mandarin is sooooooo beautiful and glamorous. The view from the bar is incredible. The service was phenomenal. Had Mandarin been able to accommodate my whole wedding, they would have easily been my first choice.

I think you just answered your own question, the Mandarin should be your venue.

  • Unless your wedding/reception is at Stratosphere or the bulk of your guests are staying there I'd go with Mandarin, it's just SO much more central to everything.  Stratosphere is a bit off by itself, so Mandarin will probably be more convenient for everyone.
  • Thanks for all your replies. We are getting married and having reception at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant (3-8pm), then a 2 hour limo/photo tour (8.15-10.15) for the tour we want to start at the Las Vegas sign and finish at the final venue for late night drinks and bar food from 10.30 to late (or early morning!).

Everyone is staying all over on the strip so location for this final part isn't really an issue.

Mandarin bar have actually just come back and upped their price by $500 to serve us appetisers after 10pm, as they were already more expensive that will make them $1000 more than 107. So looks like Lounge 107 is winning - anyone have any experience of them?

I think you misread the reply above yours as coming from me! I've never been to either bars. So wish I lived nearby and could do a scouting trip first!!

    Whoops! Totally misread it!

Personally, I'd rather go to the Mandarin. It's modern, upscale Vegas. The Stratosphere reminds me of Vegas in the 90s (when I first went as a kid!) But if Mandarin breaks your budget, hit the Stratosphere and live it up!

  • xoeden basically posted what I was gonna say -- it's $1000 more because it's generally a nicer venue. So it's another $1000 worth of overall polish and glamour, and likely better service. But this isn't to say that the Stratosphere is going to suck or anything.
  • So would you just have the limo tour drop you off at Stratosphere? Due to distance, this may limit the number of locations and time to take photos. Just something to think about :)

  • What are you doing food wise at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant? If your having a three course meal towards the end of the time period you have scheduled there (which would make sense to have your ceremony first)- you probably don't need appetisers two or three hours later. I haven't eaten at the Eiffel Tower restaurant, but I've never been anything other than completely stuffed for hours after eating at a restaurant in Vegas.

That might make the Mandarin Oriental more appealing if you don't have to pay the extra $500. Also I'm not a 100% sure but I imagine the bar will do bar food all evening (please check!) in which case people can buy their own at 2am when they get hungry or you might have moved on by then anyway.

I personally wouldn't go to the Stratosphere just for the bar. It is on the Strip, but its way out on its own, last time I made a special trip up to it(the pancake house next door) it was desolate around it (that was two years ago so it might have changed now).
  • The mandarin bar is really lovely, the hotel in general is far nicer than the stratosphere.
  • I got married in the Mandarin Bar last month, and it was the most amazing experience. I cannot recommend it enough. You are comparing a 2 star venue with a 5 star venue IMO. Book it!
