Changing our dates - HELP!!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have had to move our wedding from July to January 2013 and make do with a smaller ceremony and reception.  I need to start all over with venues and everything!  Help!  I'm looking for a venue in or around Detroit for January 11.
Thanks!

  • How many people and what is your price range?

  • Sorry, I was too stressed to give more info.
    Guests - 20
    Budget (for ceremony &reception) 5,000
  • I'm not much help with that small of a guest list. However, I think I would look into restaurants more. Unless, of course you are looking for something with more of a dance floor reception feel.

We looked into the Rattle Snake Club. It's a restaurant but has an amazing area to get married outside on the river. Maybe look into that and a small private room for a dinner after.

ok... just reread your post. Forget the rattle snake club. Outside in January not a great idea. haha

LOTON has a great idea to look at restaurants, etc. The Roostertail is another one in Detroit that's nice. Cliff Bell's, a jazz club downtown, also rents out their space for private parties, and it would be a great spot for a ceremony & reception. They have a stage and it's small enough that with 20 people, it'll still feel like a party and not a small group of people in a huge room.

First and foremost, try not to stress about it. You still have plenty of time to plan and with that small of a guest list you probably have more flexibility than someone who would be trying to find room for 300 people. There are lots of options, you and your FI should probably narrow down what area of town you'd like to get married in, whether you want the ceremony/reception in the same place (in which case maybe a restaurant wouldn't work), and things like that.

    Good luck!

  • My rehearsal dinner was at Coach Insignia in the Ren Cen. We had 30 people and it was perfect. I think getting married there in front of the floor to ceiling windows would be beautiful. The views are awesome and the food was some of the best I ever had. The people there were great to work with too.
