What do you do with all those photos?

I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm going to ask again- what do you do with your wedding/engagement photos? We did the requisite posting on the Facebook (family requirement), made a book for Grandma and MIL (and gave digitals to mom for her digital photo frame thingie).... But I'm not sure what else to do with them? DH wants a framed shot of the rings on the car for his garage. I have thought about making an album, and about hanging them- but it seems weird to have a bunch of pictures of ourselves hanging in the house. I guess I could get prints of the detail shots and family? Does anyone else have a good way of displaying your wedding/engagement photos in a non-AW way in your own home?

Re: What do you do with all those photos?

  • We only have 5 shots of the wedding displayed.   One is just the 2 of us. The others are family and/or WP shots.

The rest are either in an album or in boxes.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Not really. :) But I'm also an AW. I did two medium sized canvas prints of shots of me and H that hang side by side in our sitting room. And I did another largish print in our living room. I have about 4 photos on my desk of various shots of me and family members, bridal party, H, etc. I made both sets of parents a photo album and sent a few prints to grandparents. I have a few smaller framed shots scattered around the house (our bedroom, on our piano, my home office, etc.).

  • I don't think it's AWish to display your wedding pictures any more than displaying kid pictures, grandchildren pictures, pictures from vacations, etc. You like photos, display them!

I made an album with a custom cover, so my favorite "artsy" shot is the cover of the album and it's displayed on our bookshelf on a frame stand.
We have a small framed portrait on our entertainment unit and a framed collage of black-and-whites in the bedroom.
I also have a framed engagement photo on the shelf at home, one here at work, and DH has a framed engagement photo at work too.

  • We have an album with almost all the wedding and honeymoon photos. We have a couple in frames in the living room. I've always wanted photos on the wall going upstairs, so we put a couple family ones, a view of the whole ceremony site during the ceremony, and a collage frame with the cake, a fun family one, a couple one, and our rings with the bouquet. I love looking at them, but I am thinking we need to get some pictures up that aren't just the wedding! We need to take more pictures, I guess. We have one in a frame on the dresser in our bedroom and I want to get a couple canvases for the bedroom, too, but after typing all that out, it seems like a lot of pictures already!

We also framed a few for our parents.
  • We have 2 pics displayed. Other than that, we occasionally change our profile pics to one of them. That's it.

  • We have one of those multi-photos frames up with maybe 8 photos, most of which are family. We also have a picture of the two of us up, but only because we got an engraved frame as a gift.

The canvas our photographer gave us is with the prints I made in a box. We have an album that was also provided by the photographer in a box somewhere.

    We're not big photo people.

  • We have our favourite on the wall.  The rest are on FB, CD or in the Shutterfly album I made

  • Do you have Apple TV? We put a bunch of our photos on our Flickr account and use it as a screensaver on AppleTV when we have music on. That way we can watch them whenever we want and see a ton of them but its not as AW as hanging up like 50 wedding photos in our living room. We have more than just wedding such as just random times together, vacations etc. but its kind of a cool way to view a bunch of your photos.

We have three photos on our wall hanging in our main living area (one of us, and one of us with his family and one of us with my family) and a few canvas photos in our bedroom.

Same here.  And one of the 2 photos is on the dresser in our bedroom, so really no one sees that.  Before the wedding, I always figured I'd get a big canvas print.  But after the wedding, it just seems to AWish to me, and that's just not us.

We do have Apple TV! We just got it to watch GoT.... So that's a good idea. Flickr though? I actually didn't realize Flickr still existed.....
  • I have 4 engagement pictures printed (two 8x10s, two 5x7s) that were printed for my bridal shower.  I keep one at my desk at work one in our living room, one in our bedroom and one on a table in the upstairs hallway.  Our wedding guestbook is a photo book of our e-pics and I have some up on facebook.

We have 3 prints of our wedding pictures, one framed 16x20 (gift from photographer) in our eat in kitchen and one 18x18 from Shutterfly in our bedroom and one 5x7 that I keep at work.  I'm considering doing one or two more matching 18x18 prints for our bedroom so it makes a statement. Plus, we can be an AW in our own bedroom because it isn't a room that most people see outside of getting a house tour the first time they come over.  I made a 12x12 album that I sometimes put out on the coffee table if we are having company over who we haven't seen since the wedding.  If they pick it up and look at it fine and if they aren't interested then I don't mention it at all.

We made albums for both of our parents and one for us.  I have one engagement and one wedding picture on my desk at work.  Around the house we have 1 large frame that holds several pictures, all from the wedding with a mix of just us, family, and friends.  Over our mantel we have an engagement picture because it has our fur baby in it and our wedding ones didn't haha.  That is all we have around the house for those specific events.  We have others around the house of family, casual events, graduation, but overall I've noticed we just don't have that many pictures, I guess that just isn't our thing.
  • We had like 5 or 6 wedding photos displayed in our family room for about 2-3 years.  Then they were moved to our bedroom because I haven't finished our office and that is where I had planned to put them.  We only made parent albums and the rest of our pictures are on discs/uploaded to an album on FB.

My Mom had her bridal portrait hanging in our family's dining room the whole time we lived in my old home (25 years) but no one ever went in there so it wasn't like "hey look at me back when I was a bride!"

To me having one small picture framed and sat on a bookshelf is fine, but after years do you still really need the full wall covered in wedding pictures?  I would rather change them out for more recent pictures that show where H and I are now in our lives and marriage.

Yeah - I use Flickr. There may be another thing that works with the Apple TV but I'm too lazy to figure it out and make the shift and reupload my pictures to another site since I've got about 2,000 across several albums.
  • I have one of those canvas things (only 16x20 I think) of one of our engagement photos, but it's kind of more background focused than just our big ole heads or something.

In our dressing room, I have a photo from the beach last year, but again we're not necessarily the main focus in it.

I will AW those pics all day on facebook, but in my actual house I don't feel like there are too many places to put framed photos.  The only other 3 photos I have in the house are small ones of 3 of my dogs who have passed away.  Gotta find a place for the 4th now I suppose :-(
