Top o'tha Morning

I couldn't think of a clever title, that's all I've got.

So how is everyone today?  I've been lurking a bit lately rather than posting because my life is pretty even keel and mostly boring.

Work is meh...mostly because my most senior person won't delegate ANYTHING even though I offer and then he complains about the stress of working with customers, etc.  Okay...so don't accept my offers then.

H and I went and saw Jurassic World last night.  Nothing award winning, but definitely entertaining.  And sad that being under 2.5 hours is short for a movie.

In entertainment news, I'm addicted to the Netflix show Sense8.  You can tell the Wachowski siblings are directing it because of some of the content.  But I kind of enjoy that fact, pretty sexualized but not grotesque or over done.  Mostly just well rounded in my opinion.

Nothing else to report really.  I do feel like I'm using H right now for BCBC all the time, but he doesn't seem to mind terribly.  Nope.

Re: Top o'tha Morning

  • I just finished OITNB and I'm looking at that Sense8 show.  I guess I'll give it a whirl.  I've got nothing else going on.  HA.

DH was all, "We're going to cancel HBO now that GoT is over, right?"  Uh wut?  True Detective starts Sunday.  What are you smoking, DH?

The kiddo and I are trying to settle into our summer routine.  Poor DefConn is having some trouble with seasonal allergies. He coughs so much at night.   I slept like crap between his coughing and my GoT inspired nightmares.

I need to get back to working out.  I've kind of fell off the wagon.

  • I'm working from home (school is closed) and waiting for tropical storm Bill to hit. Looks like things will start to get bad sometime after noon.
  • Stay safe Barbie!!

*boarded up window vibes* for Barbie.
  • @ftrMrs0...I don't think this Sense8 show is going to give me any less nightmares. It's very heebiejeebieish.

Me too.  We had a lot going on in May and I have been enjoying "sleeping in" since school has been out.  I really need to get myself back into the early morning routine.

I feel pretty productive this morning - folded a load of laundry and started a new load in the washer.  I have also researched and booked a block of rooms for Son's travel team.  We're headed to Wisconsin next weekend and we're also going to the state tournament next month.

The first episode if kinda heebyjeeby but it gets entertaining...really.  I need someone to watch so I can talk about it with someone.  *yes it's all about me*
  • I'm still watching OITNB. I'm on episode #8.

I'm going to attempt a diy painting for my upstairs bedroom.

summer boredom+pinterest= a probable hot mess

  • Y'all are way ahead of me on OITNB, but I'm plugging along.  I think I can, I think I can...

I can't tell you how much I love this week's schedule.  It gets me in the office a bit later than usual, which probably means I'll be staying a little later, which isn't so good for traffic.  But Wooz's practice doesn't start until 8:15, so it's kind of a leisurely morning with her, relative to our usual.  (DH is still dropping DS off, so it's just the two of us.)  I thought it would be a rough couple of weeks, but since her swim coaches escort the kids to their various camps, that's a huge, huge help.

It is ungodly hot here.  High of 99.
  • I LOVED Sense8, I can discuss it with you @ftrMrs0.  DH and I binge watched the whole thing, we couldn't stop.  I love the sex scenes, honestly.  They're erotic and passionate...better than watching same-old boring crap or chemistry-less Shades of Grey (Gray? I can't remember).

I'm not feeling #OITNB.  I'll get through it, but I'm not liking some of the focus on the guards/prison as much as the prisoners.  Though I'm insanely curious about Bennett.  I think Cesar knocked him off for something.

I'm officiating my first wedding Friday.  Then it's Pride weekend and our group is heavily involved.  We're bringing in the keynote speaker and hosting a formal Post-Pride event with him the next day.  I'm really excited.  Plus, the old group will be there that caused so much hurt and drama with just their wee booth, not sponsors, nothing to do with anything.  Not going to lie, there's a part of me that's all:

Then on Monday, the group is speaking out against changing the city motto to "In God We Trust".

Hopefully after that, I can sleep some.

This season was a little uneven and there's no clear overarching rivalry/storyline really.  The first episode and last were the strongest ones, IMO.

@VarunaTT I really did wonder if you'd watch.  I love it.  H says it's "my weird show".  Don't care.  NOPE.

I love the fact that the love scenes were in no way sterile, but they were definitely erotic and with a loving and "real" undertone if that makes sense.  And I'm enjoying the spectrum of characters, I just like the diversity.

I just finished episode 10 I think, where Lito and Hernando made up.  (squeee!)

Another day at the pool. I spent last night sipping vodka with homemade strawberry lemonade and pickling radishes.  Life is boring.
  • I was REALLY MAD when the show ended.  It doesn't end on a total cliffhanger though, so that's good.

I know, their relationship was so sweet and complicated and I was so happy when they got back together.  I told someone I thought the show had was the most real and romantic relationships I'd ever seen portrayed.  I can't pick one favorite one, but I really adore Nomi and her lady (blanking right now, she's an old Dr. Who companion and I officially have a crush on her now).

I also actually caught my breath in real terror (and so did DH) at one of the final scenes. I mean, we both actually shouted, "Oh no!  What now?!"

    J. Michael Stracynski (writer w/Wachowski siblings) is infamous/famous for having 5 season arcs, so they have a game plan for 5 seasons.  This was definitely a solid entrance.  Lana was super excited b/c she didn't propose the transwoman on the show (and the actress IS a transwoman so yay diversity).  Speaking of which, I mean holy shit at the diversity on the show!  So many people of all sorts.

I already want to re-watch it.  I can't think of a better sci-fi show in ages.

Almenita.  I think or something like that.  :)  She's a hot one.

I wish I could like your post more than once.
  • I think Sun is really my favorite female though.  She seems like such a wee thing and then she's all, Let me kill you with my bare hands and pretend you have my brother's face.

And then Capheus (I think that's how you spell it) is my favorite male.  We started watching old Van Damme movies and I kept yelling, "Van Damme always comes back!" at opportune times.  :D
