AW - wedding & honeymoon recap and photos!

I got married on May 30th! The day was absolutely amazing even though I remember almost none of it. We had a bunch of last-minute cancellations so it ended up being small, 68 guests, but I'm very happy about that because I got to really spend time with everyone. About 40 of the guests were immediate family and we had a big informal family BBQ on Friday night, and also breakfast for everyone on Sunday morning, so there was even more time we got to spend with people. Everyone had wonderful things to say about the ceremony, the food, the cake, and everything! And my family and H's family met for the first time and seemed to really enjoy each other's company.

It was sunny and HOT - like 85 degrees, which is freakish for late May in New Hampshire. I had been worried because the venue is not air-conditioned, but the buildings are old, thick stone so they actually stayed pretty cool and some thunderstorms rolled through during the reception and cooled everything off quite a bit. Plus, it was awesome to have some thunder and lightening during the dancing! I love thunderstorms.

Then we went to Hawaii for 2 weeks on honeymoon, which was amazing! We spent 1 week in Kauai, where we hiked the entire length of the Kalalau trail on the Na Pali coast, which is notorious for its treacherously narrow spots next to steep drop-offs along the sea cliffs, but is seriously the most stunningly beautiful place I have ever been. After 4 grueling days doing that we spent 2 relaxing days in a nice beach resort on the south part of the island. And then we went to the Big Island for a week where we toured a Kona coffee plantation, hiked in Volcanoes National Park, and then in Waimanu valley on the north end of the island.

I'm AW'ing a little here because I need a bit of a pick-me-up. Now that we've returned the week is shaping up to be kind of crappy. My poor H is taking the worst blow - he learned first thing yesterday morning that his boss is leaving his company, which sucks because they get along really well and now there will be restructuring in the division and he's nervous that the nature of his job (which he has loved) will change significantly. Then last night his computer motherboard died so now he needs to buy a new computer and he is just DYING to edit honeymoon photos and is annoyed by the delay (not to mention the $$), and this morning his car started making bad noises so it needs to go to the shop. And I had dental work done yesterday so I'm feeling miserable and in pain. And it's been raining non-stop for the past 48 hours. Oh well, I guess the newlywed bliss had to be interrupted by real life blahs!

Here are a couple of my favorite wedding photos from our photographer's sneak peek, a shot of the Kalalau valley in Kauai (we camped on that beach!), me & H with a Kona coffee bush (mmm.... love me some coffee!), and at the start of our backpack out to Waimanu Valley on the Big Island.
