NWR New refrigerator?

Has anyone purchased a new refrigerator in the last year? We are in the market but every user review I find is bad. We have checked on Consumer Reports. The refrigerators they give high marks to the users give bad reviews. Very frustrating. Looking for a French door bottom freezer with ice maker.

Re: NWR New refrigerator?

  • Thats exactly what I have. I quite like mine: http://www.lowes.ca/refrigerators/samsung-rf28hfedbsraa-2807-cuft-french-door-energy-star-refrigerator-with-single-ice-maker_g2187721.html?ProductSlot=12

I dont know if thats the exact size we have, but same idea. This one doesnt have that 'door built in the door', which I didn't think we needed. We've had it for over a year with no issues. I have no idea what it reviews like though!

  • Don't bother with the ice/water in the door.  We don't use ours that often and it takes up shelf space in the door.

We have a Samsung and other than wishing we had a model without the ice/water in the door I love it.  We had a very narrow space to work with so we had no choice but to get this model, the other french door units were too wide.

We just bought this one: http://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-Electronics-24-0-cu-ft-French-Door-Refrigerator-in-Stainless-Steel-Counter-Depth-LFXC24726S/205343795#specifications

We have only had it for a month, but so far we are happy with it. I was worried that the plastic would be too cheap (i.e. break quickly), but so far it seems rather sturdy. We were very limited by size (mainly depth and width), and this was the only one that we liked that fit in the space. It keeps everything cold, it's very easy to change the position of the shelves, and it has a lot of space despite the ice maker (even has shelves on the door where the ice maker is). We use it all the time for water and ice, but our tap water is very hard. I think how much you use that will depend on your location. I also like the convenience of having the ice already made and not taking up freezer space with ice trays.

ETA: This one has a slim ice maker in the door itself with shelves on the outside of the ice maker unit, so it actually has more shelf space than other french door models. I wanted to clarify that since I am KUI currently with delicious red wine.

  • Thank you ladies. The help is appreciated.
