To shorten, or not to shorten, that is the question

So, I did a terrible thing and was looking at dresses, and was looking at short ones.  Gosh, some of them are so cute!  And they'd be much cooler than a long dress on the beach, and the crinoline on mine is going to destroy the feathers on my shoes, I just know it.  I've been telling myself, no new dress, no new dress, no new dress.

And then, I thought, why not shorten the one I have?  The skirt has no decoration, completely plain.  The bottom pleat goes all the way around, and would theoretically be able to cover a seam from reattaching the skirt so it's a bit poofy (I'm no seamstress, I'm guessing here totally).

What do you think?  I'm 5'5"-ish, shoes are 3"-ish.  I'll probably be talking to a seamstress to see what kind of option that may be.

I think this sounds like the best of both worlds.  Your dress is gorgeous, and I wouldn't change a thing about it.  But I can understand wanting to show off the cute shoes!  They're beautiful!
