How was the weekend?

Ours should be called, it's all fun and games until someone pukes.   This time the puker is DH.  :(  He's trying to tough out the morning at work and then come home.  He's miserable.

But I digress...Thursday night was girl's night out.  I went to see Magic Mike and have dinner with SIL and her BFF.  It was fun.

Friday was crazy shopping/get ready for our cookout.  DH's co-workers came over.  I don't gel with most of the work wives.  There's a couple that are OK, but for the most part...meh.  Our good friends did come over too and we ended up talking to them until past midnight.  We don't see them enough and we need to change that because they and their kids are awesome.

Saturday, DH took the kiddo to the IL's so he could go to Cincy with them for the 4th.  I got a pedicure.  The rest of the day, we were lazy slugs until we had to get ready for my friend's wedding.  Wedding was fun.

Sunday, we did some clean up and DH went to get the kiddo and SIL and her girls.  I worked for a couple hours.  SIL and nieces stayed for dinner.  DH took SIL back to her IL's and then came home and was miserable.  :(  I ended up sleeping in DefConn's room.  DH was too restless for me.

I hope he can start feeling better soon.  I hate seeing him like this.

How was your long weekend/4th of July?

Weekend kind of felt like a mini-vacation.  Friday I took the van for tires and bummed around the little shopping plaza.  Then we went fishing and decorated bikes for the neighborhood parade.

Saturday the kids and DH were in the parade and we had a big picnic with bounce house.  I'm pretty sure my kids spent a solid 2 hrs in there.  After dinner we went to a Crew game and stayed for fireworks.  I still can't believe that all three kids sat for the whole game.  It might have cost a Kona Ice and soft pretzel but it was worth it.  This was the first time they've seen fireworks and the sheer amazement was incredible.  They were shooting them from all around the outside of the stadium and off the field so it was extra cool.

Yesterday we hung at the swimming pool and DH smoked a meatloaf and turkey breast.

Woke up this morning to a bunch of cars broken into (luckily not ours) and an invite to BIL's for a birthday party.  I don't want to go, but DH does so I'll smile and nod.  I have a ton of laundry and cleaning, but we're going back to the pool this afternoon instead.  The rest of the week is supposed to be crap.

  • Poor mr.conn!  I hope he feels better soon.  How was Magic Mike?  I saw the first one as part of a girls night, but haven't seen the new one.

Weekend was pretty awesome.  DH and I did Grown-Up Day on Thursday.  Dropped the kids off, checked out the pasta place, decided to return on our way home so the stuff wouldn't sit in the car all day.  Went to Costco, grabbed some sushi for lunch.  Returned and got our pasta stuff (marinara with meatballs, a pound of rosemary garlic linguini, and a romano herb focaccia), went home to drop it off.  House was still being cleaned, so we stuck everything in the fridge and went to this little indie coffeehouse near the old downtown that we've driven past a hundred times and always meant to stop in one day.  It was fun.  BCBC x 2.  Picked up the kids, and DD was brimming over from her theme park trip.  She rode something called The Hurler and loved it.  DH made dinner from the stuff we bought, and it was good.

Friday we took the kids to the children's museum and fried their brains.  They had a good time, it was just noisy and chaotic (not surprisingly), and the three of us get overloaded after enough of that.  Saturday DD had swim class, and DS wouldn't nap--IDK what his deal was.  DH was going to take DD to see the fireworks in our town, but after dinner she asked if she could stay home instead so we could play Legos.  So we put DS to bed and had a Lego Party in the playroom, which she loved.  Yesterday I took DD to see Inside Out, just the two of us, and it was fun.  At one point, she looked at me and said "Are your eyes teary?"  I said "A little," and she said "Mine aren't!"

It was a good weekend, and now it's over.  DD is at horseback riding camp this week, so we'll see how that goes.  The only thing that's keeping me going this morning is that we leave for the mountains two weeks from Friday.
  • I'm firmly back in a down period. I need work to pick up or pressure in my personal life to let up or a new project to focus in on.  That's what pulls me out.

The weekend was alright.  Had a game day on Friday which was great. The rest of the weekend was at home, getting home chores accomplished.  That's really about it.

It had more of a story than the last one.  The end was the best part.  Plus, it has Jada Pinkett Smith, Elizabeth Banks, and Andie McDowell (doing her most awesome best as a divorced southern belle).

I see my avatar has cross-posted.  I never understand these things.  Whatever.

Weekend was okay, I do feel like Sunday was a joke in the fact that it just up and disappeared and it's now MONDAY.

And while I appreciate the weather being nice over the weekend, this pouring rain doesn't help work matters in the slightest.  NOPE.

My 4th was spent at home staying quiet and enjoying a solitary night.  :)  And H wasn't on forced OT anytime this weekend which was nice.

it has been horrifically rainy here a lot recently...but the sun came out for the weekend (yay!) so we had a gazebo-raising/grill outfor the families on Saturday (yay) even though our back yard is mostly standing water (boo) which was extra fun when we learned the standing water just off the deck was because the field is full from the rain and our septic is backed up--so that was/is poo-water (boo boo boo)

The Mr. has been sorely under the weather, he and I only stayed up for the fireworks because Buffy wanted to see them--and she fell asleep in his arms.
    I'm loosing my voice too
  • had a date day with DK on Friday since we were both off, but Wolverine's school was open. slept in/BCBC/awesome "wild game" lunch (including delicious iguana empanadas)/watched TV at home (we were running too late for the movie) - went to a "picnic" at Wolverine's school for dinner, and had a low key evening.

Saturday I ran a few errands in the morning, and we spent the rest of the day cooking out with friends - Wolverine and her boyfriend had a blast swimming so we decided to forgo driving to see one of the professional fireworks displays, and just set off our own. (This is the first year we bought them, but I think we ended up with a decent assortment - they're legal in TX, and you can get stuff that's a step below professional grade to shoot off in your backyard.)

Sunday was a fairly lazy day at home.

she is just riding that role from 'beauty shop" to "magic mike" to the grave.

IDK. All I know is that it looks like she responded, but there's never anything there. It's been that way for awhile.

She must be in another knot dimension.
  • Or just deleted?  It was weird.  I thought I had her blocked but usually I can still see a line for the blocked person and I don't see one.
