make up trials with pictures

Hi everyone.  I need opinions.  I recently had 2 makeup trials with 2 ladies and need to choose between them or ask for changes.  I don't normally wear makeup (because I'm not good at putting it on) but wanted something to show up nicely in pictures.  First pic is of me how I normally look.  Second set is first lady and it is airbrush.  Second set is second lady and is liquid foundation.  Opinions?  Changes?  Sorry about the lighting changes.  I took the first set while I was in the salon and the second at home.

Re: make up trials with pictures

  • The first pic (in the blue shirt with the door) is of you normally?  I honestly like your makeup the best in that one!

All pics are pretty- and very natural looking, which is nice.  But I love your look in the first one.  Honestly- are you completely against DIY makeup?  Because it looks to me like all you might need to do is add some more blush, and maybe some eyebrow powder (to darken your brows a tiny bit, to make your eyes pop), and you'd have a gorgeous bridal look :)

Sorry I wasn't much help, lol.
  • I'm not sure if it's the lighting or what, but I think I prefer the first set. It looks a little more "flawless". Which do you prefer? Which feels better? Which lasted longer?

You know what's funny, I was going to say the same thing! Out of ALL the pictures, I like the first one best. Though I know some people are against DIY makeup because of added stress.

I'm not against DIY. I just thought I was too plain for bridal but thank you both so much for the honest opinions! The airbrush lasted longer but with concealer and powder it seemed to hug every line in my face. Maybe i can get the airbrush and do the rest myself. Seems like a trip to Ulta may be in my future.
  • I like the first one too!

Just 2 'food for thought' items.
    1.  I do not think a flash was used in any of these pictures. I have learned (the hard way) that products with SPF in them reflect when a flash is used and you end up with a very white face.

    2. Heavy application. When I got my make up done for my e-pics I felt like I was crazy over done. I put on makeup every day but this was lashes and the full bit. BUT!!!!!!!!!! In the professional e-pics it looks stunning. Like it is there and enhances me, but its not the clown level it felt like in the mirror or in the pics I took on my cell phone after getting it done. (OK it was obviously not clown level ever just trying to give an example, I still loved it in person I just was not used to it.) So it might be worth looking into putting on a bit more than you usually do.

Once again I love the first picture the best. I agree with the PP who talked about which one lasted longer I am super concerned about this for myself as well. Let us know what you end up picking and good luck! You are going to be a beautiful bride!

  • The SPF thing is sort of a myth. Some products do that in direct flash, but it's not the SPF, and pro photographers rarely use direct flash so you'll probably only look weird in friends' snapshots and only if they turn the flash on. I read an article suggesting you test your makeup by taking a direct-flash cellphone selfie while wearing the products.

Like the others, I like the first pic best. You have amazing eyelashes! Between the two sets of makeup, I do like the airbrush a lot better, but I am not super impressed with the way she did your eyes. If you want her to do your makeup, I'd just have her lighten up on the eyes in general and especially on the lower eyeliner, and have her fill your brows a bit darker.

Thanks so much ladies. This has been really helpful!!!   I like your suggestions and I will talk to the makeup artist (airbrush) when I go.  I think I will just have her do the airbrush and contouring and then do my eyes myself just heavier like was suggested.  For my e-pics, I did look like a clown.  Really.  It was horrible and I cried as soon as I got out of the salon and went straight to Ulta, tears running down my face and had them fix me.  I promptly cancelled my wedding makeup with that lady.
  • You're really pretty in all of these, but the makeup in the first picture by far looks best to me- it looks flawless and both stunning and adorable.
  • I like the ones of you in the striped shirt. Seems natural and flawless. The one in the green shirt, the foundation looks cakey. If you did your makeup yourself in the dark shirt, you do an amazing job!!!
  • I think your makeup looks the best in the first one:) Great job, they all look really pretty!
