Speaking of escort cards...

We are having a plated meal, so need to have assigned tables. We will distinguish entree types somehow with place cards. For a total of about 50 guests, is it too difficult to have guests find their own place card at a table? Should we do just place cards on the table, place cards at the entrance that they take to the table, or a seating chart and place cards?
Thanks!!

What about doing a poster at the front and then place cards at the tables (with the entree choice)?

So you'd do something like this on an easel near the guest book (or something):

And then as far as entree choices, be sure to ask your caterer what they prefer. They may have certain symbols/colors they want you to use.

They are letting me decide how I indicate entrees, I just need to let them know what I decide.

The thing holding me back from a large seating arrange board, such as the one you posted, is that this is my second wedding and I had one of those at my first. I'm trying to stay away from a lot things that I had with my first wedding. Just want this one to be completely different, you know? Or am I over thinking it...?

Would 50 guests finding place cards at 5 tables be too much for them?

If you really are doing escort cards and only assigning tables and not Seats, I'd go with the classic escort cards on a table in the entrance saying what number table.  Then the individuals can find their own seats and their assigned tables, set their escort card down on their plate or near it, and get on with their day.

That is what I am leaning toward as well, thanks!

we did escort cards and assigned tables.  The venue had a sign at the door to indicate where each table was as they entered so they could easily find the table they were assigned to.  The card itself was color coded with steak, fish or vegetarian.
