I bought a huge box of vintage photos at an auction while visiting family in TX this weekend. I originally thought it would be fun to use them for craft projects but the more I flip through them, the more I wonder.
Should I track down the family that owned these? There are photos that clearly go back over 100 years. There are postcards written from a guy serving in WW2 that he sent to his mother, baby pictures and all sorts of goodies. Some are even labeled- I've got a handful of names to search. The few names that I have for people who could still be alive are hard to find but I think it's doable. For those who are long gone, I may be able to find relatives (I'm seeing multiple last names).
Should I be searching these people out? Would you want them if they came from your family? Do I have any responsibility? Could someone be hurt if I reach out?
I'm undecided. What do you think?
