I have a lot of dresses for a lot of pre-wedding events?

Hi girls, i have a "no budget" wedding but i'm not having 200 guests or similar because i think that money doesn't always mean trashy....so i'm going to have an elegant wedding and i've bought a lot of dresses for all the events you americans usually have before getting married (cause i love the USA and i'm gonna marry a gorgeous amrican guy).

I'm from Europe and from where i come from is not usual to have an engagement party, a bridal shower, a rehasal dinner and so on!

So i don't want to look egocentric or narcissist with all these parties...i mean i love your culture, is amazing but i don't know what to do, i want to have those funny events but i'm very worried for what people are gonna think. What should i do?

I'm posting all the dresses here so if you want you can tell me what you think about them.

I kind of depends on each event. Every event is hosted by different people. The Engagement party can be hosted by different people than your bridal shower, and the formality of each event will also be different.

Just as an aside, not everyone has every one of those parties. Bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and Engagement parties are thrown by people other than the Bride and groom as celebrations of the bride and groom Neither B or G plans any of those events, it's considered rude.

Also not every dress has to be white, or a form of white. My cousin wore Red to her rehearsal dinner.

They are all very beautiful and elegant.
You and your fiance host the rehearsal dinner (unless someone else offers and you take them up on it). So if you want to make it a fancy dinner, then any one of those could work.

As for engagement parties and showers, this will depend on what kind of event the host wants.
Both engagement parties and showers are not parties that the couple hosts. They only happen if someone offers to host one for you, as a gift.
If anyone offers to host one, you'll have to gauge how fancy a party it might be and pick your dress accordingly.
If it's going to be an afternoon shower in someone's home, the short dress with the lace might be more appropriate. If it's an evening dinner in a fancy restaurant/hall, then the long dresses would work.

Another event you could host is a morning after brunch after the wedding. The tea length pink dress with the black sashes might be great for that.

Neither the bride or groom hosts parties such as an engagement party, shower, or bachelorette. These are offered to you by someone else. That person is the host and determines what kind of event they are comfortable hosting.

I realize that parties can vary in formality (I've heard of some pretty fancy showers), but from what I'm used to/ seen the most, most of your dresses would be too fancy. An engagement party is usually more casual, although I suppose it could be held at a nice restaurant. Showers are usually afternoon events, so not very formally, though I have heard of some held at reception venues. Bachelorette parties are usually nights out on the town/ dinner/ spa/ games, not a formal evening. And even still, with all of that said, again, the host determines what kind of event they will host so even if YOU want a formal event, that might not happen.

What you and your fiancee could host is the rehearsal dinner, a welcome dinner/cocktail party, or a day after brunch. Since you are hosting, you could make it as fancy as you like, but still these events are generally less fancy than your wedding and are often more casual to encourage more mingling of guests with the bride and groom.

They are beautiful dresses! But I think you should wait at see what kind of events you may be attending before buying dresses you might not wear (or maybe you will somewhere else...).

Um... I think they're all rather over the top for pre-wedding events?

If I could flounce around in the ballerina style I would, but guess I'm just not that fancy.

Which event goes with which dress? Because honestly, each of those could actually be worn as a wedding dress. And the one with the crazy sleeves looks super costume-y and probably is not appropriate for anything short of a fashion show runway or maaaaybe a red carpet. Even then it's 50/50 odds on being on the worst dressed list or the best.

Has anyone offered to throw you any pre-wedding events OP? That would be the first thing. You don't host parties in your own honor.

I am calling it....the OP is 14 years old and dreaming about the day she will get married...because isnt this the type of thing we all thought at that age? "Budget" will be no problem and we can buy 5 different dress because we would be marrying a movie star and need red carpet attire for our pre-wedding parties thrown by Hollywood royalty.

What pre-wedding events have people offered to host for you? And what can you tell us about those events/formality/venue/etc.? That will considerably influence what to wear to what.

At this point, the only dress that seems normal for a pre-wedding event (and a relatively fancy one at that..) is the knee length one with the v-back.
