Wine Love

WOW.. I go on vacation for a couple of days and stuff gets crazy around here! Happy Friday to all and I hope your work week wasn't too terrible.

Just wanted to report back for all of you wine lovers that a week in Sonoma is worth it! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a laid back good time with great wine and food. A must try, the smoked salmon pizza at VJB, if I wasn't already getting married I would marry that pizza!

  • Mmm wine.  And pizza.

And reminds me I need to start tasting wines to decide what to serve at the wedding.  I need to taste lots and lots of wines.

Yes, WINE.. lots and lots of tasting is never a bad thing! My MOH who planned it (bachelorette party) got us a wine trail pass for $35 each and it included tasting at 11 different places! Nope, couldn't even touch that many but it was totally worth it!

  • I fucking love wine country. It's my happy place, my Garden of Eden.

Our favorite Sonoma Valley place is Francis Ford Coppola winery. Their restaurant, Rustic, is very good, they have a day resort (which we haven't actually gotten to enjoy) and a little museum. Plus, the stuff they mass distribute is actually a good value-- I drink their Coppola Rosso from the liquor store for a whopping $8.

Between Sonoma and Napa, we've tried Gloria Ferrer, Mumm Napa, and Chandon for sparkling wine. Chandon is the one we like best and we actually got to have Chandon sparkling for our wedding.

With hundreds of wineries, we just keep going back for long weekends. I keep bugging DH to buy a vacation home there but alas, he says no, and says I can't live there because I'd be drunk all the time.

  • We did a co-ed wine tasting for my bachelorette last saturday. We are no where near any wineries but a big liquor store puts them on after hours. We got to try some wines that I never would have bought before (mainly because they were 45$ a bottle and I am more of a 12$ wine kind of girl). One we tried smelled like the smell that lingers in the air after you blow out a candle! and tasted really minerally, kind of like rocks... it was weird.
