Excited and Nervous

Hello,

I'm planning an October wedding and I read a lot of the advice posted on here. I never really post because I have not had anything big to ask. But the past few nights I've been waking up about 4am thinking of things to do for the wedding. I think I'm starting to stress about the big day. Did this happen to anyone?

Two of my biggest worries are getting either a cold sore or my period on my wedding day. Mostly the fact that I can't do anything about this :(

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to everyone!

Re: Excited and Nervous

  • Welcome! Some fears are normal. I started my period at our rehearsal dinner, so...yeah. Bummer. You just have to let that kind of stuff go.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Ditto the advice that PPs gave.  Also, hello and welcome.

  • Welcome!

I had the exact same fears as you. I don't take HBC and wasn't interested in doing so. I just had to hope for the best. Luckily, my period came a week early for some reason. My second concern was a cold sore. I should've gone to see the doctor and didn't. I got a cold sore the day after the wedding.

The best thing to do about both of these concerns is speak with your doctor because like a PP said, they can hopefully be avoided.

  • redheadbride15, and also agree that you need to let the little things go. I forgot some details on my wedding, and even forgot my fancy underwear that I had made a special trip to go buy specifically to wear under my dress. So I went commando (which actually made it way easier to pee). Some little things will go wrong, but the day will still be great.

    And: Hi & welcome!

    Welcome!

I lost a lot of sleep during the earlier planning process. But once all of the big things were taken care of, I stopped worrying so much. But I do know how that feels.

I'm due to get my period on my wedding day. My sister is a PA and told me that I could skip the placebo pills in my birth control to change my period, but I'd rather not risk messing something up (and potentially getting pregnant) or having constant spotting during the honeymoon. So yeah, I'm just going to suck it up. I think I'm more pissed about having my period for the first few days of my honeymoon than on my wedding night!

    Happy planning!

FWIW I've done that a few times while on camping trips and didn't experience any negative side affects.  I did go ahead and do the placebos the following week though, so I still had my period... basically it was like 5 weeks between periods, but only 3 between the next.

This is awesome, I have been thinking of buying fancy underwear but why not save the money and just not wear any!?

  • Wow you girls are all so helpful and nice! Thank you so much for welcoming me and for your helpful tips. I will definitely be looking into some of those things! --even considering the commando maybe ;) lol
  • These are two things I worried about too! I only get a cold sore once every few years, but heat and stress are two things that can cause mine, so I was slightly concerned... Luckily that didn't actually happen, but I do have advice for preventing cold sores: If you start to feel that telltale tingle or numbness that happens before a cold sore, start taking a high dose of Lysine - like, 600mg 3x a day, until the tingling stops. If you do it before there are any visible signs of a cold sore, you can actually prevent it.

But as other posters have said, don't spend your time worrying about these things!
