Am I the only one here on a Saturday night?

Today was pretty damn hot and humid for here.   Wasn't a fan at all. I had to work the golf course today so I had to be outside all day.

The bulldog wasn't a fan either.  I went to take him out and he gave me the "I'm not fucking going out there" look.  I had to drag him out.  We walked off of 10 steps to do his business and then he running back inside.  Amazing how other days it takes 1000 step for him to accomplish the same results.

I just grabbed a beer and just waiting for DH to come home.

So what are you up to today/tonight?

Re: Am I the only one here on a Saturday night?

  • TCM features Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. all night, so I'm watching him buckle his swash while DH is out for his astronomy session on top of the CO Nat'l Monument.  It feels good to have a few hours to myself.  I'm going to bake a peach pie.  I also have to practice.  I'm substituting for the church organist again, tomorrow.
Looking forward to our trip to Norway to get away from this heat.

  • We're home now.  We did the City Chase today, which was a lot longer/spread out that I thought it would be.  We logged over 20kms and took over 5 hours to finish.  And my legs are killing me.  I can't run at the moment, due to an injury and I think I favoured it a little to start, so my joints are just killing me.  It's not even muscular.  Not sure why as we've walked this much before with no issues.

Hit up the after party for our included beer and dinner, then grabbed a Blizzard and ate it with Advil in the hot tub.  Too tired to do anything other than watch TV now.  It was a long day

I wish we had your heat today.  It was about 10C and ready to rain all day.  I froze.

I came down with whooping cough and pneumonia on my trip to St Thomas (sup @lyndausvi) last week so I've been curled up with the dogs, knitting, and cough syrup for the past couple days, hence my coming out of lurking.

I finished all the pieces for these: http://www.pickupsticksonline.com/products/Kids'-Cow-Boot.html so I suppose I could sew them together and finish them, or I could just stall doing that portion until 2 AM the night before it's time to give them to the recipient. 50/50 chance either way.

Edit: How the heck do I change my avatar? I keep seeing reference to some drop down thing that doesn't exist, and it's somehow pulling automatically from my FB.

bummer.  I had whooping cough back in the late 90's.  Ugh, would not wish that on my worse enemy.   I hope you get better soon.

  • Sorry ladies. Just found out we PVR'd ANTM so I'm out for the next little while. ;)

  • It was hot and humid in CT today. We went out for lunch, bought peaches, a peach pie and corn at the orchard and did some grocery shopping. We are now enjoying a thunderstorm. I love thunder and lightening. That's my exciting Saturday.

@HarlequinMarlin - I'm sorry you have whooping cough and hope you feel better soon.

  • A t-storm with rain is just blown through the temps have already dropped.

Sadly there is a wedding at the club tonight. They have a tent, but the wind it blowing pretty hard.  Glad I'm not there.

  • I'm here. We tried to go to the all night flea market but it was an absolute clusterfuck. Friends said it was an hour wait just to get in. No way. I have to get a new wedding ring so I'm shopping rings online and watching food network.

  • Jared. My first ring constantly had loose stones, they replaced it and now the new one also has loose stones. So were exchanging it. I'm trying to decide if I should get a set, even though I originally didn't like them much. I have big ugly hands and long carrot fingers so I need something substantial.

  • It's too bad about the stones, but awesome that they're still going to allow you to exchange!

I went to a Jared on one of my trips, and they did have some nice stuff.  I like more substantial rings too, even though my fingers are kinda small.

I chose my engagement ring because there was a matching wedding band, and then I didn't end up liking it anymore when it came time to purchase.  I felt like it just looked like an asymmetrical doubled shank... so I went mismatched!

@ShesSoCold I'm glad you went back in and they're letting you exchange the ring!

I'm home tonight. I went out with friends last night - which means we paid a $5 cover, went into a noisy-ass club for one beer, and then went to the bar at the bowling alley down the street because I'm too old for this club shit. And then we went to the adult soap box derby today, so I'm pretty tired now. H is already asleep since he works at 5am tomorrow, so I am watching the Giants/Nationals game and drinking wine.

@luckya23 I did the same thing... My ring has a split shank, and it had a matching band, but it felt... bulky. Plus I didn't want to solder them together, since I take my e-ring off a lot when I'm doing anything with my hands. So I went with the simplest wedding ring possible - a 2mm white gold band.

The problem might just be with the ring design.  Traditional tiffany style solitaire had the diamond set with six prongs to hold it in.  These modern style rings have lots of little stones that are glued in.  Maybe something with a more traditional setting?

I just posted these for fun.  My 6' tall daughter has big hands, too, and she chose a marquise shaped solitaire because the shape enlongated her hands.  Pear shaped stones are good for that, too.

Good point on the number of prongs. Tiffany settings (with 6 prongs) are definitely more secure than 4 prongs. But it also has to do with the jewelry manufacturer - some jewelers just do better work than others, but there is not really a way for the customer to know who the vendors are - it's not something most companies, other than small local ones, advertise to customers.

Tiny diamonds are usually pave, bead, or channel set. I have never seen them glued in high-quality pieces; that sounds like a good way to lose stones. I have a bunch of tiny bead-set stones on my e-ring, and, despite me not being very gentle with it, the only stone that's ever been lose is the center stone, which is prong set.

  • I'm here.  My last ten shifts before I'm done are all nights, so TK is my entertainment when I don't want to look at files any more.  After tonight I only have 7 left before freedom.

It was grossly humid here, too.  Although I think any amount of humidity is gross... but J backs me up that today was yucky.  We've got a wind kicking up now, though, and temps are supposed to be better starting tomorrow.

Our Bible study group had a farewell for us last night, and our pastor asked if I was going to miss anything from the job.  Couldn't think of a damn thing.  I started to get a bit sentimental tonight, though - the job is crap, but I will miss being able to just drive whenever I want to, and not worry about being cooped up in an office.  And of course, it's beautiful country around here, so I will miss that.

H and I got back from vacation today. (Insert crying emoji here). I was not ready to come home. Didn't help that it was drizzling. Also had to go in to work for a few hours.

ETA: FYI: I'm on mobile and used an emoji. It deleted everything after the emoji.
