Can dress colour "clash" with wedding colours?

So these are the colours we want, but with a darker grey.

I've absolutely fallen in love with the Tiana dress from the Alfred Angelo Disney stuff, which is pale green image

It also comes in white apparently, but I absolutely love the green.  I'm thinking the additional colour shouldn't be a problem (it's not like all the guests are going to be coordinated), but I'm wondering what other people think.

  • I honestly don't think this is a problem. You may want to go with grey for your BM dresses if you are worried about clashing when you're at the alter but I doubt anyone will notice at the reception.

  • Substitute the pale green for the yellow, and you are fine.

  • Honestly, I do think it would clash a bit and seem "off". I would add in some green elsewhere, or go with the white.
  • I don't know that it would clash, per se, however I do think it would look a bit odd to have that be the only green thing. I second @CMGragain's suggestion.
  • Have you tried the green color on? If it suits you I think you should consider changing your wedding colors to be more complimentary to the gown. They just don't seem to have anything to do with each other.
  • I agree with other posters.  I would switch out the yellow in your wedding colors to a green.

IMO when you go with a colored wedding gown (a non-neutral, and yes I consider blush a neutral) then the colors you use elsewhere in your wedding need to compliment it.  Otherwise it will just look out of place.

  • I tried that dress on when being fitted for a bridal expo, and I loved the green!  And mind you, I am not a "green" person usually.  It's a beautiful gown, and I'm sure you will look stunning in it!  I agree with PP's...switch out the yellow for the green, or use small pops of yellow here and there if that color is important to you.  I don't know if you are wearing a veil, but the Belle cathedral veil looks pretty with that dress, so pretty in fact that I bought it to wear with my own dress (Jasmine).
  • I've tried it on which is why I'm so in love.  I overheard the ladies in the shop talking about how good it looked on me.  I'm also in love with my colours, but it's looking like I've got a decision to make.  Thanks for the input - and for the veil tip!

  • I agree... the yellow you have picked is too gold to go nicely with that green.  You could swap it for an equally soft yellow, or just replace it altogether with that minty green color.  I think that would look nice with the darker purple and the grey.

  • Idk. I don't mind it too much. But it does remind me of Mardi Gras, which kind of goes well with Tiana, but eh. Just depends on what kind of vibe you want to give off.

  • It would make it look Mardi Gras-esque which works since The Princess and the Frog is set in New Orleans right around Mardi Gras!
  • I would suggest adding a green similar to your dress as one of your colors, muting the yellow down to a more pale yellow and only doing accents of the purple w/ stuff instead of it being a main color.  I would also suggest gray dresses w/ green and light yellow flowers w/ pops of purple (maybe a dark purple ribbon for wrapping the bouquet?) I don't think it would look as "Mardi Gras" with a lighter green and a little bit of purple.
  • I agree with other posters. I'd recommend if you do the green, modifying the other colors a little. Maybe a paler purple, with some green and gray. The first thing I thought when I saw them was Mardi Gras, which might not be what you're going for. The dress is stunning though--so if you love it, go for it!

My dress is gold, which is more of a neutral than green, but we still modified a few details to bring everything together (gold table numbers, gold handkerchiefs on the men's tuxes, etc).
  • Here's some ideas of all of it together!

  • I didn't actually mention, the purple was supposed to be more of an accent than a main colour.  This is what I was going for, but purple is sort of "my" colour and everyone (myself included) has said I should include it.  I like the idea of toning the colours down a bit and maybe adding the green in somehow.

I haven't purchased anything yet, and I imagine I will encounter several more dresses before anything becomes set in stone.

  • the bouquet in @maggie0829's profile picture would look great too!
