Wearing a faux fur caplet for my winter wedding...in Houston?

Hello all,

I'm really just looking for opinions on this. My wedding is at the end of December in Houston, TX and the weather is known for being very unpredictable. The ceremony is going to be outside and while it usually is pretty good weather temperature wise that time of year, i'm considering wearing a faux fur caplet for the ceremony. Do you think it would look cheesy, considering the climate?

Living in Houston, and knowing how the weather tends to be in December, I would be second thinking an outdoor wedding. Sure some winters its be a beautiful 75 degrees, but others its in the 60's or 50's, way too cold for an outdoor wedding- the average is around 55 from past years.

If you are wearing it as a fashion piece then go ahead, but if you are wanting it for some type of warmth during the ceremony I'd consider moving it indoors and that is too cold for the guests.

  • If it's 75 outside I might side-eye even if it is December. Also, being from Houston, if I am outside and it's below 50 I am not happy. Even if you have me sitting almost inside of a heat lamp in the sun I am still unhappy. I would highly recommend making sure you have a backup in case it gets too cold (like below 50 because let's be real, Houstonians are babies below 70).
  • I'd need to see the dress.  There are many options for wedding outdoor-wear, it just varies.

  • Here's the average weather for December..

I would think this looked really odd. I picture this kind of thing being a thing for cold climates where winter involves snow, at least.

But if you really want to rock it, you aren't hurting anyone by doing so. Your call.
