Sorry if this shouldn't  be in this particular forum but I just needed to express myself! My friend is getting married in November and I'm a bridesmaid. I've known for awhile now and got my dress but she just stopped by today to drop off the invitations. It seemed so much more real and talking to her today really made me almost cry. I'm so excited but now we are grown up and moving on with our lives. After the wedding, she's moving away (Fiance is military). I was just feeling all nostalgic. We've known each other since we were thirteen (we are both 22 and three weeks apart in age) and have been through so much together. I'm 95% excited and happy for her but then there is that 5% that is not. It's not jealousy or anything. It's more not wanting to admit that we are adults now and wanting to hold on to those childhood memories. I feel a bit sad and probably will bawl on her wedding day. Like I've said, we've been through so much together including illnesses, injuries, family issues, numerous boyfriends (she even dated my brother for two years), and so much more. We attended summer camp together and joined all the same clubs and extracurriculars. I was the one who introduced her to her fiance and she was the one who reconnected me to my boyfriend. I know this is a long post but like I said, I'm just feeling expressive and needed to get it out. She's the first of my close friends to settle down and I know more are coming. My boyfriend and I are talking about rings and my other best friend said her boyfriend was hinting at a ring too. Thing are just changing all the sudden and I'm not sure I'm ready!

The great thing about having friends who live far away is getting to visit them!!! I have friends all over the US and it's so much fun to take a long weekend or a few days during the week to spend time with them, especially after a long absence. It's just part of growing up.
