DIY Makeup

I wear makeup maybe once a month (if that) and I only do the basics. If there is anyone out there would could give me some pointers Id greatly appreciate it. I know the look I want but I dont know what the heck I would need for a base? Can someone give me a list of what I would need?

Also, any opinions on colors? The wedding colors are purple shades. Would this be ok for eye shadow?

You might want to look at the DIY makeup sticky and the List Your Faves to get some ideas.  I am doing my own makeup for photos next week and I have gotten some great tips from them.

I did a plum/rose/pink palette for my wedding day makeup and I was very happy with it.  Purple shades are supposed to be good for brown eyes (which I have).  I would practice some like whenever you have date night or go out or something--use those times to try different looks.

Oooh, that sounds really pretty. Purple is great for brown eyes & green eyes also, since it's the opposite on the color wheel. It really helps to bring them out. I did a cream/pink/brown smoky fade. I agree on testing it out a few times.<div>
</div><div>If you didn't already buy the products, maybe you can go to one of the makeup counters & ask them to do that color look for you. They'll usually write all of the colors on a paper for you. The biggest thing for me is to prime everything. Use a foundation primer, eye primer & lip primer. That will help to lock your look for the whole day.</div>
  • I have no idea what a primer is BUT I just bought a foundation primer. Where can I get lip and eye primer? Is there a brand I should look for?

Honestly?  Talk to a pro.  Go to the makeup counter, sephora, or call avon.  If you only wear makeup once a month, you may not have enough know how or experience to do it for the big day.  A pro can give you pointers, reccomend products or just book the day with you.  Having good makeup can make all the difference for your photos
