Happy Friday (and yay for October brides!)

Happy Friday! I’m in a particularly good mood this morning because FI is going away for the weekend for his bachelor party and he’s excited! When we first got engaged he was dreading the whole bachelor party idea because of previous bachelor parties in his circle of friends. One friend got married last year and requested an OOT bachelor party that required flying. It was kind of a bust and only 2 people went. A different friend’s bachelor party last year was scraped together last minute by the BM and was really boring so people left early, etc. When FI’s brother (and BM) started talking about plans, FI was really insistent on not doing one at all, but the BM insisted and did a PERFECT job planning everything. Low key, low cost, weekend at a lake house two hours away. All of FI’s groomsmen and a good chunk of his buddies are going and it seems like everyone is planning to stay there all weekend and I know they’ll have a good time. FI is such a good friend to all these guys and always shows up for their things, so I’m really happy that they’re all showing up to support his thing.

With that being said, I’m PUMPED to have the house to myself this weekend. It never happens! I am having a girls night tomorrow with wine and wedding-related movies, and then on Sunday I’m getting a 6 pack of Pumpkinhead, putting football on, and going to town on wedding stuff, specifically wrapping all of our wedding party presents and getting favors and other reception details organized.

Fortunately the rain does not affect me at all this weekend but fingers crossed to all brides and grooms this weekend! If it helps at all, it rained this weekend last year for my friend’s wedding and it really wasn’t a big deal. Yes we had to run a little bit in our dresses and use umbrellas, but overall, it wasn’t a big deal. And, the pictures came out awesome.

  • That sounds like a wonderful weekend! And you are making me feel VERY behind, but I will be doing lots of wedding details this weekend as well. I love October so much, but I knew this year, when it came around it meant it was GO TIME. Have fun this weekend!

  • This is my first entire weekend off since June.      Unfortunately, some of it will be spent deep cleaning the house to get ready for our house/dog sitters to stay.   Funny how it takes house guests to kick your butt into gear to do a deep cleaning.

Going to watch a little football on Sunday. DH's game is on at 7:30 am, we will see if he actually wakes in time to watch the game.

Next week is a half week for me as we leave town on Wednesday.  Since I do not get PTO, I might put in a few hours at some point over the weekend to make up a little time. We will see if I actually do that or not.   I have a PTO savings account I put money into each week, so I should just dip into that since that is what it's there for.  Decisions, descions.

  • That sounds like the best weekend ever! I hope he enjoys his b-party. My FH is the same way, if he has one at all, he's wanting to do something low-key and manly like a fishing trip lol.

What's on your list of movies? Bridesmaids and The Wedding Singer are my two favorites. Maybe The Wedding Planner with J. Lo if I want to relive being 14 and being obsessed with that movie haha.

I literally just watched the Wedding Singer (the best) so definitely Bridesmaids, probably Father of the Bride with Steve Martin, and maybe My Best Friend's Wedding

  • That sounds like a great weekend!!

I have a busy weekend ahead of me! One of my closest friends is having her bachelorette party this weekend, and we are going to eat at the Cheesecake Factory! Yum!! We don't have one of those in town, so it's always a special treat. I've been feeling under the weather ever since we got back from our honeymoon, so I am going to rest up tonight and hope I feel better tomorrow!

Other than that, H and I will be catching up on laundry and most likely having a football and Bar Rescue marathon on Sunday. We LOVE watching that show!

  • That sounds awesome! FI's bachelor party is this weekend too and he is so pumped (though a bit worried about weather)! It actually turned out really differently than what he originally thought but he's so much happier - he was just going to golf with his brother (BM) and groomsmen, but they decided to go into NYC to an 80s arcade bar in Chelsea, which for him is SO PERFECT. He doesn't drink but his friends do so it's perfect for everyone to enjoy themselves for the night!

Definitely need to clean, my shower was last weekend and gifts are splayed around the apartment. Also go grocery shopping and watch the games on Sunday. Wish I had more wedding stuff to do but we're kind of set! It's all coming so quickly!

  • I'm taking a mental health day today.  I though a parent was going to die yesterday.  Makes me not want to do stuff for their kids when I don't have the extra time.  Anyway, the goal is to get a lot of homework done today.  So no drama today ladies.  I need to work.  ;)

I love mental health days.     They are so refreshing.

  • Sounds like a great weekend Peachy! I also love having a day or weekend to myself.

DH and I leave for England next week... a very much needed vacation and I am going to stuff myself silly on roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

  • H and I are running a race tomorrow, it is a marathon relay and we're doing a 2 person team (it is a bunch of loops so you just set up a chair or blanket to wait). I'm woefully out of shape and aside from running both a 5K and 10K race last Saturday haven't been training well so it might be scary

Going out for a delayed birthday dinner that night, I didn't want to go out last week on my birthday because we'd been out of town and eating out a ton so I needed a food detox.

  • Sounds like a fun weekend!

I'll be laying low tomorrow, probably errands and housework since H works Saturdays. He want to get up at 6am Sunday to go fishing, so I'll probably go with him, and then we'll be watching football all day Sunday. Just a typical weekend at our house!

So I'm a little freaked out right now. My FI is going to his bachelor party this weekend at the lake house two hours away, and he was also nervous because of some previous bust-y bachelor parties.

  • We are having a low key weekend, the "calm before the storm" says my FI..

I need to steam my dress, add the sleeves for the ceremony (hooks to be able to remove for reception) and that is all.. Next week is going to be crazy though, I can only take Friday off, and I have to work 4 10hr days so I don't have to use a vacation day to have it off.. (but my job is really laid back so I will be able to do any last minute things from there.

My FI did the same thing low key, went to a UC football game, against Miami Oxford, it is a very old rivalry. then to a bar, where they got really drunk and one stayed sober to drive them home. otherwise my MOH whose husband is a GM) lives 5 minutes from the bar she was ready to pick them up.

lyndausvi I have to deep clean the house, because my brother (our only OOT guest other than his sister who is staying at his mom's house) and my mom will be staying at our house the Friday before the wedding. the spare is our catch all for gifts and holiday stuff, so I have to actually find a place for some shower gifts, and finally put away summer decor that I traded out for Halloween decor last weeekend..

  • @peachy13 Is that pumpkinhead good? I've only had shipyard. Which is my favorite beer ever.

I am still in the O.C. we went to Disneyland the last 2 days and had a spooktacular time. It was Hot! And I came down with a cold which sucked. We had our picture taken with Jack sparrow and the whole family dressed as pirates. We had the best time ever. We are going going back next year during Christmas.

Now we are going swimming. Have a good weekend everyone! Happy wedding month to October knotties!!

  • Lol. Sorry I didn't know.
  • I am having such a great day.
I've completely embraced fall, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Wore an adorable vest over a flannel shirt with a big blanket scarf and boots, went Halloween shopping with H (we're going as Piper and Porn Stache from Orange is the New Black).

Went to an amazing farm store where we got GORGEOUS full, bright, mums. Orange, yellow, and red. They're amazing for the price, considering I almost paid double for the half dead ones at Home Depot last week.

Had some homemade soup for lunch while watching some Scandal, and I think I might go to the local cider place later.

Tomorrow I'm working, then H and I are going to watch some football with his alumni group.

Not sure what Sunday holds yet.
  • Your weekend sounds amazing, @charlottesmom0626 .

  • @MegEn1  too funny! I think this goes to show you that guys (or people in general) don't need a whole ordeal for this sort of thing. You'll always hear someone itching for a Vegas trip or for some other sexy destination, but I think all the guys going up to the lake this weekend are pumped that it's a short drive away and that they're just chilling there without any grand plans or anything.
