What's for lunch?

What's for lunch today? Dinner?

I brought some leftovers with me to work. It was delicious!! Chicken, zucchini, orange bell peppers and onions in a white wine/Dijon/rosemary sauce with brown rice. YUM!

Tonight DH and I are going to see the new Martian movie that came out today. I'm going to see if I can talk him into going for some Italian food before :) I have been craving it all week!

Re: What's for lunch?

  • Your lunch sounds amazing. I have no idea what I am having... I go home for lunch most days so I can walk the dog, so I eat whatever I can find.

Dinner tonight will either be fancy ramen (top ramen with spinach, green onions, shredded carrot, pork meatballs, and a soft-boiled egg, with peanut butter and sriracha mixed in), or I need to figure out what to do with this can of Skyline Chili my coworker just brought back from Cincinnati. I know it has cinnamon in it, which scares me. I am afraid to try it. So, probably ramen.

  • I just got a salad from Chipotle. Steak, peppers and onions, hot salsa, and sour cream on a bed of lettuce. It was really good but the person making it for me made it really small. Like, half of the size it should/used to be. And it cost over $8. It's been kind of like that for the last few weeks; I wonder if the Chipotle bigwigs have demanded smaller portions or something.

  • I made cream of chicken soup in the crock pot yesterday (H has a man cold, so there's that..) it didn't turn out as good as I wanted, (I wanted Panera style, it came out a lot more bland.) But of course there's a ton of it, so that's lunch.

Today I'm making tomato sauce and meatballs! Can't decide if I want to do meatball subs or spaghetti. Tough choices.
  • DH just came home early from work, so I'm sending him to Tim's to get me Cream of Broccoli soup in about an hour.

  • Good question.   I really want to go grab something from Whole Foods, but I might just skip lunch and have a late lunch/early dinner later.  What that would be I have know idea.

The last time I got a salad there the guy put a ton on lettuce in and another worker came over and made him dump half of it out! Then my salad was teeeeeeny and I was NOT happy! I think it's a new thing >:o

  • Leftover chicken fried rice from my favorite Thai restaurant. All the more exciting things we got were already gone.

I think Skyline chili is disgusting, I hate the cinnamon taste in it. DH is from the Cincy area and loves it and thinks it is the greatest thing ever.  blech.
  • @peachy13 that has happened to me the last 2 times I've gone to the one by work. I thought maybe it was just they were changing things but perhaps it is all locations. It is definitely a smaller portion than it was even 6 months ago. I used to always make 2 meals out of it and now it is one slightly bigger meal but definitely not enough for 2
  • I had all intentions of going out to grab some lunch today, pretzel dogs (I even dreamed of them last night!), but it is so rainy, cold, and gross out - I changed my mind.  So I got delivery with a few co-workers.  My lunch today was Hot & Honey Buffalo Chicken Fingers and Fries.  Not sure if that is better or worse than the carby and cheesey hot dog, but it sure was delicious!
  • Yum, I love Skyline. I'm an Ohio native though. It is def. a love or hate item.

I'm having peanut rolled up on a tortilla. Carrots, apple, celery for snacks. I usually make a big salad to take throughout the week, but ran out for today so pb is my go to. I never have bread in the house, only tortillas.

Dinner will be out at HH. I'm going with coworkers so DH will probably take advantage and get McDonalds or other fast food. I don't eat fast food pretty much ever (except Taco Bell, which he doesn't like), so he gets it whenever he's on his own.
  • @kvruns  right?? OMG thank you. I thought I was going crazy. The salad portions at least went from big to not big enough in the last month or so. But price stays the same. Ugh.

They shorted me on rice last time I went, which bums me out because I love to get a whole scoop of the hot salsa with my skinny bowl (I just get steak and cheese) and mix it with all the extra rice.  Once they shorted me on the rice, the salsa was too much.

It's someone's birthday here so we ordered from an asian place... some got sushi, some got chinese food, I got chicken satay and some steamed dumplings.

  • Well I was sitting in the work lunch room eating my leftover roast chicken & butternut squash. Then people starting filing in and I was like what is going on, I'm usually the only one at 2pm. Turns out it was a retirement party so I got cake! lol

I'm making this for dinner. We replace the asparagus with broccoli but it's SO good.

  • I think I'm going to go get some mashed potatoes from KFC.

  • I had pizza and chocolate chip cookies for lunch. No shame here!

Going out to dinner with my H and brothers at one of my favorite restaurants - Venezuelan food! It's a belated bday dinner for me and an early one for my brother.
  • OMG @jenna8984 that lemon asparagus chicken sounds amazing!

Lunch today was a meh salad with meh hummus from the meh salad bar downstairs.

H & I have been texting recipes back and forth for dinner ideas. Most likely will be sauteed chicken with tomatoes, peppers, and capers. And either a rice of some sort or a baguette with olive oil for dipping.
  • A hot toddy.

FI gave me his '3rd week of school' cold but on steroids so I'm turning my lemons into a hot, alcoholic tea flavored lemonade until he gets home and brings me chicken lemon rice soup.

  • So DH got me the soup, but didn't bring home a cookie.  Not sure if I'm happy, cos it's one less cookie that I ate, or sad, cos it's one less cookie that I ate.

  • I had diet Pepsi and a whole bunch of mini KitKat bars.
