Flamingo or Tropicana

Does anyone have experience with the Flamingo or Tropicana for a wedding ceremony? I'm looking at the Gazebo at the Flamingo or the Arbor at the Tropicana. Both are about the same price and I've had good customer service at both. I've been to Vegas, but not these specific hotels before. I need to make a decision in the next couple of days to secure a date.

Re: Flamingo or Tropicana

  • I will be having my wedding ceremony at Flamingo Garden Gazebo on 10/16/15, so I am not able to speak about the experience yet. Jazmin the coordinator has been exceptional thus far. Do you also plan to stay at the hotel where you choose to have your ceremony?

I have had concerns about the reviews at flamingo that I have been reading. This is the only stressor I am having right now.

We had an appointment to tour the Tropicana location.  Generally we really liked parts of their facilities, but the Arbor location felt really, really small to us.  They list it as holding 30, but we felt like our group of 25-35 would be uncomfortably tight there.  We preferred the courtyard location, but it was a little loud with the waterfall nearby.  I think it would be fine with a microphone for the ceremony, but something to keep in mind.

Another choice they don't list on the wedding website, but is available is an area they call "The Cliffs" and that location was actually our favorite. It's pool side, with a second waterfall nearby.

  • Do you think the Cliffs location would have noise issues being by the pool? Thanks for the info!
  • I think they allow the Cliffs location only during times when that part of the pool area is closed.  We were talking about a late October wedding, so they were anticipating the pool as a whole would be closed, so it wasn't a big concern for us.  All of the Tropicana wedding spaces are pretty close to the pool area.  The Terrace is basically a second story patio above the pool area, and the Arbor and Courtyard are sorta off to the side, but along a pathway that leads to the pool area.
  • We did a tour of the Flamingo chapels, and weren't that impressed in May. :( That being said, we only briefly walked through the Tropicana and didn't do a chapel tour, so I can't give too much direct feedback.

  • I haven't made a decision about where to stay yet, but I am also feeling a little nervous about the reviews.

I still have some time, but I think I'm going to look into the hotels right around The Flamingo also. I want to get a block of rooms for guests and don't want to suggest a place that isn't great, but also want something reasonably priced.
  • Try the Linq. It's been recently rendoed from top to bottom and appears to be really modern. Can't confirm how nice it is; I've only stayed there during construction.

We didn't mind Harrah's when we stayed in May; I would probably stay again. Not ultra fancy, but definitely reasonable and not run down. Same thing with Excalibur for a budget-friendly trip (the pool area makes it all worth while). I would never recommend anyone to stay at the Rio. Ever.

Depending on who your guests are and what they're like will help give the best recommendation for what would work best for them and their needs. Consider room blocking at a couple different price points - Flamingo, Planet Hollywood and Cromwell are all (nearly center strip) options that are all Total Rewards properties and represent three very different price points. :)

  • We blocked rooms at Flamingo and Linq and we have people staying various places. I am concerned about reviews too, but at this point I am over worrying about it. I am a Platinum Total Rewards member and we have a Go Mini Suite. I expressed to my guests to read their own reviews and make their decisions. We are a party bunch so the 12 friends traveling with me wanted to stay at Flamingo and we dont plan to spend much time in rooms.
