Drink ideas for getting ready with everyone?

OK, so my mother, BM's, and I will be getting ready together for a few hours before the wedding, we are riding to the church in the limo..

So I was going to have snacks, veggies and the creamy jalapeno dip (like Chuy's) I make that everyone loves.. and then having water and pop (my 11 year old sister is a BM) and maybe some deli made sandwiches.. it is between lunch and dinner so nothing super big but keeps us happy until dinner!

I was thinking of having either wine, or a pitcher of a great drink most are not "fru-fru drink" drinkers.. anyone have a good idea of a drink to make?

Re: Drink ideas for getting ready with everyone?

  • I made a punch for my friend's shower last year that was a big hit. It's a little on the sweeter side but you can adjust to taste. It may be slightly "fru-fru" but yummy!

2 bottles ( or 1 large bottle) moscato
    1 can pink lemonade concentrate
    Sprite
    raspberries

I mixed in a glass beverage container and let everyone serve themselves.
  • I made mimosas with Barefoot bubbly and different fruit juices (so not technically mimosas but the same idea) when I was a MOH and it was delicious. We made sangria and margaritas before our wedding.

I made this same thing and it is super yummy!  But I used Riesling instead because I didn't want it quite as sweet.

I did this with moscato, sprite zero, and raspberries (no lemonade) for my FSIL's bachelorette. It was really good and overall pretty low in calories since everyone there it seemed was on a diet.

  • Oh gosh some of these sound disgustingly sweet to me! All I'd want is a glass of champagne.
  • I'm also a fan of a good, dry champagne.

Me too. Maybe even offer a variety of fruit to drop in there. I've seen blackberries, cherries, and raspberries in champagne and it looks so good.

I like my champagne with a dollop of sorbet.

  • The cocktail at my shower was lemonade, a bit of blueberry juice, and blueberry vodka.  The blueberry juice turns it a purple color.  Or, just lemonade and blueberry vodka is delicious, and not froo froo-y at all.

  • If you want the champagne route, a good dry champagne with some chambord added in is delicious, and pretty.

  • Trader Joes has a French Berry Lemonade. It is sparkling, comes in a rpretty bottle, and is delicious! Just had it this weekend. That could be straight for your sister and throw in some gin for everyone else.

I like that I didn't think of getting something sparkling for her, even if it is seprate, or to share that we add alcohol to..

I know I have some wine calling my name while I put water beads in glass jars!

  • Okay, now I'm having wine for dinner.

  • edited October 2015

I stocked the fridge of the suite with Laurent Perrier splits (delicious but not as expensive of Veuve) and small bottles of OJ.  We just sipped mimosas or straight champagne.

A pitcher of Sangria is nice too since you can make it in bulk and make it as boozy or week or sweet or dry as you want it.

Edited b/c I do know the difference btw "to" and "too".
