Re: Michelle Duggar's Marriage Advice

  • I mean, she's basically been constantly pregnant for like 28 years so duh she has sex with him while pregnant.

She thinks someone else can make his lunch but she's the only one who can have sex with him......? Makes sense.

  • FFS.  And what about her special needs??  Oh right, she's a woman and we don't like sex.  Silly me

  • Well, I obviously owe DH a shit ton of BJ's now after this past week.  ;)

I think that's unholy. No chance of that turning into 900 babies.
Somehow I think Jim Bob let's that slide.

  • Her poor daughters. She's basically teaching them they can never say no to their husbands and must always "be available". Such BS.
  • I heard on the radio this morning that Law and Order: SVU is making a Duggar-inspired episode. I don't watch that show anymore but I think I'm going to tune in for that episode
  • He certainly did an outstanding job of brainwashing her.  Jim Bob has some really bizaare sick ideas regarding sex/sexuality and I really think he has screwed up his wife as well as his kids.  I don't condone what Josh Duggar did in any way but I do wonder if Jim Bob's crazy sick outlook on sex messed him up. Sick sick sick.

As a christian, her advice is so offensive to me.  I like how she basically reduces the role of a wife down to providing sex.  The thing is, I'm unique to my husband.  It's not that I'm just the only one he can have sex with (without committing adultery).  I'm the only one that can comfort him, make him laugh, give him joy in the way that I do.  Sure, others can comfort him, make him laugh, etc. but not in the same way his wife can, and that's why he married me.  He didn't just marry me so he could have access to sex in a moral way.  If that's all marriage is, that's quite disturbing.

QFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a Christian as well, and I agree with none of Michelle's marriage advice. Very well spoken @monkeysip!

It's not just him. There are a lot of people running around, spewing their own version of old world, misogynistic garbage and trying to pass it off as God's word.

All of the Duggar kids are direct results of their up bringing. . . psychological issues and all.

  • Wait, those of you have husbands are not subservient and cater to all of your husband's sexual needs whenever he wants them?  You do not make him the master of the house?

Really, that way of life is so well-rounded. I mean, as an adult woman you are allowed to dress how you like, wear your hair how you like, go to any school you want, take any class you want, have any type of job you want, you can pick out a spouse on your own, you can go explore the world on your own. You can even go to the grocery store by yourself.

    Oh wait...........

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I'm actually practicing a reverse form of polygamy in which I have multiple brother husbands. . .

ETA: So I guess that  would be polyandry.  Anyways, so far it's working out well, I haven't had to cook or clean anything ;-)

I feel like her advice is reducing men down to nothing but horny neanderthals.   And I would hate to feel like I chose to marry a horny neanderthal.
This, for sure. According to this family, men cannot control their sexual desires, so it's the woman's job to make sure she doesn't tempt men. Hence the women being completely covered from neck to knee at all times, because the sight of a knee would turn any man into a crazed sex lunatic who has no control over what they do... And they also have a code word for when they see immodestly dressed women - one of them says the word, and all the males in the family are supposed to stare at their feet until the threat passes.

All of it is absolutely bonkers.

  • Get the fuck outta here with that ish.

She makes his lunch AND irons his shirts? There is no way in hell I'm ironing a shirt.

As far as special needs goes...*barf*. She reminds me of the 19th century prude. Sex is fun! Sex is intimate! Sex is not just HIS to enjoy.

My favorite part of all this is that the code word is "Nike."
  • I keep thinking about poor Anna with Josh's nasty ass all over her and since she's the wife, she can't say no. Ugh.

Not really... Her kids and MIL do all the chores. Her MIL moved in awhile ago after the death of her FIL and they've said that Grandma Duggar headed up the laundry committee.

  • I thought of this thread earlier because I reread some of the old Teddy threads to catch up on that saga and in one of them (that was linked earlier but now is removed for TOS) someone actually said they liked Michelle Duggar's marriage advice about only the wife can fulfill that special need (or whatever it was).

That is why they had all those kids.  Because she needed people to do all the chores so she can drop anything at a moments notice to service her husband.
