So when we moved in I complained about the dryer not drying. Landlord called a repair guy. He said it was fine, but maybe the air vent inside the wall was clogged. Landlord didn't do anything about it.
That was almost 2 years ago and the thing always took too long to dry. So much so that 9 months ago I started to air dry everything but sheets. Which btw I actually like better and have saved a bunch of money on electric.
Well last week it wouldn't even dry the sheets. So we pulled out the vent that is between the dryer and the wall and it was pretty full but not clogged.
Turned it back on, still not drying (but getting hot).
Today DH takes the back of the dryer off and then the vent (inside the dryer). It's completely clogged which made the fan not spin anymore . I do not think the guy last year didn't even checked the vent in the actually dryer. I pulled out stuff that didn't even belong to us. No way we caused that much lint, especially since I air dry most pretty much everything but sheets. Even towels I air dry.
It was so bad I'm not sure how a fire had not started. Seriously, it was that bad that if I continued to dry and us it there more than likely would have started a fire.
Please, please check your vents. Not just the tube coming from the dryer to the outside vent, but the one that connects your lint screen to the back of dryer.
Now things dry in record time.
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
