Saturday:

Your flight has been cancelled.....and your hotel is on fire!

So we didn’t get off to the best start when British Airways cancelled our connecting flight in the UK....as there is only one flight a day out of Heathrow to Vegas with BA we were really stressing that we would miss the flight altogether, in the end it was fine and we flew out and landed in Vegas on the evening of 25th July...we arrived in the US around 8pm, getting through customs was fine, only to be told that our hotel (the Cosmopolitan)had been on fire! We honestly thought the guy was joking with us, but the pool area had been on fire earlier that day....it was all fine by the time we arrived.....we had prebooked a transfer with Presidential Limos, the first of 3 different booking we had during our week in Vegas, the transfer was great, prompt and polite service and we shortly arrived at the Cosmo.  Presidential Limos would get an A+ review.  We checked in, we had booked a terrace one bedroom with fountain view and honestly nothing can beat that view even after you have been awake and travelling for around 20 hours!  Check in was fast and we were soon refreshed and headed out to meet our friends who had also arrived that day.  We went to the first of our daily visits to the Lucky Cat which I highly recommend to anyone who visits the Cosmo.  We went to NYNY for some drinks and a wee bit of gambling then called it a night around 2am.  Cosmo rooms...A+++!

Sunday:
Bottomless Mimosas and another limo ride!

So on Sunday we had made plans to go to the Wicked Spoon for the breakfast/brunch buffet.  On a Sunday they offer bottomless mimosas and bloody Marys....Wicked Spoon is AMAZING!!! Food is awesome, huge variety and they kept the drinks coming...when we were finishing off they even came over with another few drinks each in a “to – go” cup....this is one thing I LOVE about Vegas!  Wicked Spoon, also an A++! We then wondered through the Cosmopolitan, NYNY, Flamingo, The Linq and headed towards the Bellagio.  We had a limo booked as part of our wedding package to go to the courthouse to collect our marriage licence.  There was a slight hold up in getting our limo but they made a quick call to the chapels and then we were off to the courthouse.  This was a quick and easy process....or so we thought at the time.....more on this later!  We then went back to the Bellagio to go to see the chapel (which was our back up plan) and also see the Terrazza di Sogno where we were getting married.  We met our wedding coordinator, and picked up our wedding gift bag and vouchers which were included in our package.  I would give the Bellagio an A for their wedding package, although we had a few issues, they were not really the fault of the Bellagio, and they did their best to help us with them.  (more on this later!) Sunday night we headed to city center and the Aria....ended up in Todd English for food....kinda average pub grub, huge portions which I was getting used to again, the guys enjoyed the beers, including trying to down one in 30 seconds!  Back to the Cosmo for some more slots and a few drinks.....and another visit to Lucky Cat!  Overall I was pretty lucky on this trip, probably won a few hundred dollars, and my bridesmaids had a few big wins....enough for a couple of Michael Kors bags anyway!

Monday: Hair, Make Up and Happy Hours!

So today I had my HMup trial...after looking at loads of reviews I booked Hairzmelinda...they were easy to book and the two ladies arrived early for our 10am appointment.  I am so glad I had a trial as I didn’t immediately love my hair or make up...Dallas(hair)  and Shiloh (make up)were fab; very entertaining and professional....my bridesmaids had not arrived at this point and I appreciated their help, advice and patience when I asked them to change things....I loved my hair and make up on the day, I went for airbrush make up which still looked amazing after an outdoor wedding at 4pm in 30 degree heat!  My hair is very soft and fine but it stayed up...still partly up 24 hours after the wedding...!  Would recommend Hairz Melinda for hair and make up but also would advise a trial if possible...would also give then an A rating...my trial lasted a couple of hours, groom and friends were away shopping and we had arranged to meet at Blondies in Planet Hollywood for Happy Hour.  This is a happy hour that last several hours, with a one off price for unlimited wells/beers....we stayed for a few hours then the girls ditched the guys to go to Rock of Ages in the Venetian....back to Cosmo to get ready, quick drink in Vesper then limo to Venetian for our free pre show cocktail...then another cocktail...then maybe another??!  Fab show combined with great happy hours and cocktails meant we were all a little merry when we jumped in a cab to NYNY to go to 9 Fine Irish Men....fab night in there, so many good memories, from this time and a prior visit when my friends had their wedding after party there, we all love that bar,  groom and friends caught up with us by this point and we ended the night sometime in the morning heading back to Cosmo where we found SECRET PIZZA!!! Honestly it is the best pizza, just what was needed after hours and hours of happy hours!

Tuesday – Bellagio Buffet and a lot of walking....

Recovery mode was initiated today....coffee and carbs to banish the hangovers!  Walked to Mandalay Bay, Luxor, NYNY and Excalibur...ended up sitting in the sunshine in Pinks at Planet Hollywood with a bucket of beer and some hot dogs...it was super super hot and I was starting to worry about how I would cope in my wedding dress!  Fairly quiet day but we did end up at the Bellagio Buffet around 7pm as we had a voucher which was part of our wedding package....really disappointed with the Buffet at Bellagio, felt the rooms were like a canteen or something, plastic soda glasses etc and the food was not nearly as good as Wicked Spoon...back to Cosmo for some gambling and a few drinks at the Chandelier Bar with the bridesmaids and last guests who had arrived.

Wednesday Wedding rehearsal and a bit of THUNDER!!!

So on Wednesday the pre wedding nerves began to kick in a little...we had our wedding rehearsal organised for 11am, rounded up the bridal party and headed over to the Bellagio. We were getting married on the Terrazza di Sogno overlooking the lake and the fountains, I had read some reviews which said it was looking shabby, but I found it to be fine...there is no seating for guests at all but plenty of room on the balcony overlooking the terrace.  I was worried about walking down the stairs and was glad of a chance to practise this bit!  Our wedding coordinator Aracelli was lovely and very helpful.  Our rehearsal lasted around 20 minutes and then it was onto the shops with the bridesmaids!  I had to get perfume for the wedding day and settled on Armani Si, which we bought in Armani in the Bellagio, we went to the shops at Caesars, stopping for some lunch and cocktails at the Cheesecake Factory.  I knew that the bridesmaids had organised a night out that night, so we went back to Cosmo to get ready.  They turned up at my room about 5pm with a veil and sash, some shots and tickets for Thunder down Under in Excalibur....I really wasn’t sure what to expect but we headed towards Excalibur via NYNY where more than a few drinks were consumed before the show!  Memorable mention to the Dick in Dick’s Last Resort in Excalibur who provided drinks before the show...we also had a drink in Coyote Ugly in NYNY, but I think it was very expensive and no atmosphere, could be because we were quite early though.  The show itself was fab, very entertaining, I really didn’t want to get up on stage, and although we had front row seats and were very dressed up, I never felt pressured into taking part...the guys were HOT!  I think it lasted til about 11pm, when I began to realise that I was getting married the next day!!...groom wanted to see me before midnight, so the girls met up with the guys in Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY, really really love this bar!  The band were fab, and we ended up doing some Scottish dancing with the locals, groom and his best man headed off about 11.55pm and I stayed out with the bridesmaid til about 2am when I dragged them back to the Cosmo to try and get some sleep!

Wedding day to be posted soon

The text is fine (I'm already going blind at 26!) makes it easier to read I think especially on a screen. Sounds fab so far

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has had poor experiences with the Buffet at the Bellagio. I've done a number of buffets, usually at Mlife properties, in Vegas, but Bellagio was absolutely disgusting for me. Wicked Spoon is on the to-do list!

    Congrats! :)

Can I ask how you found the atmosphere at STK in Cosmo? This is a place where we love the look of the menu but saw the bit about DJ's etc and worried it's not going to be quiet? We will go there anyway if it is not suitable for our wedding day meal but from what I read and saw I didn't think it looked OK for a smaller wedding party?

    Thanks for your reviews! :)

Definitely do Wicked Spoon it is amazing :) I want to do it again this time but for breakfast and we have 2 free breakfasts there with our Cosmo room booking!

For a dinner buffet this time we are doing Bacchanel as I know that is WS's main rival.

Everything sounds great so far! Secret Pizza is the best. We ate there three times in five days, which might explain why a snap on my dress burst. haha.

I'm so happy your flight situation turned out okay. How scary!

Hi, we found the atmosphere in STK to be fine for us, we had the Tempest Storm room which was at the back, fully enclosed room with adjustable music volume and lights, it is very minimalist and stark I suppose but we decorated the table with favours and flowers.  The food was AMAZING...as was the drinks service, we had 2 servers and waiters who kept the drinks flowing, we had paid for a 3 hour bar service and made the most of it, I was drinking white wine and they swapped the chardonnay for a pinot no problems, we has had endless rounds of spirits, only once did one guest have to wait for another drink, will try to add some pics of room and cake

    Thursday 30th July:
    Someone’s getting married today!! LOOOONG!!!!

So the day of the wedding is a bit of a blur, it passed so fast and I really wouldn’t change any of it, even the more eventful moments!!  Me and the bmaids woke up about 5am!!  Tried to sleep until about 830 when we went to The Henry for breakfast.... it was lovely and the server was great but I couldn’t eat anything, had some toast, coffee and oj and that was about it! Started getting messages from those back home and got very emotional, headed back to the room, via a wee gamble and also avoiding the groom/guests who had headed to the Wicked Spoon.  Back in the room, tunes on, and a tiny glass of prosecco to calm the nerves.  The ladies from Hair’z Melinda arrived and were extremely entertaining, awesome story about meeting a celebrity (top secret) and also our new favourite Vegas phrase – “Suck it up Buttercup”!!   I loved my hair and make up, quite natural but with fabulous eye make up which looked fab in the photos.  My bridesmaid didn’t have a trial and the ladies came up with fab ideas for their hair.  Before I knew it, it was time to go get in the limo.  We were staying in the West tower near the rear of the Cosmopolitan, we jumped in the lift, which was amusing as the bmaids had to bar a big group from getting in with us, and headed downstairs.  Serious nerves were kicking in...

We had booked a limo to go from Cosmopolitan to the Bellagio which I know is right next door but I am so glad we did, especially considering it was 3pm in July and hot hot hot!!  It was the second of 4 presidential limo services we had booked and they were prompt and helpful, I had said that we wanted to cruise around for a while and end up at the side entrance of the Bellagio by 3.50pm, don’t really know exactly where he took us, but I felt calm and relaxed and we arrived at the Bellagio about 3.55pm...I had been told to take the CC used for booking and I did have to sign something while standing at the side of the limo in a wedding dress!!  Wedding time had arrived!!

We went into the waiting area, the Bellagio staff could not have been more helpful, I guess they can have up to 10 weddings a day but I felt special and looked after, they had a wee laugh with us and then it was time to get married!  I had picked my own music for the entrance and had a fear that they would pick the wrong track on the CD, all was fine (1000 years, the piano guys version) I also had the fear of falling down the steps on the terrace but again that was fine...we literally met the officiant, Reverend Macpherson, about 5 minutes before the ceremony and although it was slightly more lovey-dovey/religious than we expected some of the overly sentimental words used by him made us laugh.  It was a very chilled ceremony which is what we wanted, in an absolutely beautiful setting overlooking the Bellagio fountains.  They time the “I do” and first kiss to the start of the song and fountain show which is amazing, we picked “time to say goodbye” and “your song” as these were the first 2 fountain songs we watched on our previous trip....they also played another song for us when more photos were being taken it was “come and get your love” by Redbone – From Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack..love that film and that song seemed to sum us up!

The Bellagio wedding experience was very expensive, in comparison to other Vegas locations, but it was right for us, we wanted a private ceremony area in a beautiful location, the staff were amazing and it went without a hitch on their part and I would definitely recommend it for the overall experience.

The hitch we did have was this..my groom’s name got mixed up on the marriage licence, his first name and last name were reversed, when we went to the marriage bureau somehow no one noticed this, even though they checked our id, we didn’t notice it either, nor did the coordinator or the minister!!!  In fact we only noticed after we were married and looked at our licence copy which was in the Bellagio gift bag....we totally freaked out and had to go back to the bureau the day after the wedding which was a pain in the butt!!!  and it has taken much longer to get a licence with correct names, I still haven’t legally changed my name yet....anyway that minor(!!) hitch aside after our ceremony we had an additional hour of photography with Cashman..

I had read mixed reviews but I have to say that the lady who took our pics was fab, we had loads taken on the terrace and with fountains then me and groom left our guests with the free champagne in Lily Bar and headed off for some shots (and photos ;))just the two of us, we went to the conservatory, casino tables, reception, lovely location near the spa, the piano bar where they played “here comes the bride” as we walked in, we also were stopped and congratulated a lot, we then collected the wedding party for some more photos outside, which look amazing...hour of photography up we went back to Lily bar, and played some slots, had to drag the bridesmaid off of the Bridesmaid machine!  We had decided to walk back to Cosmopolitan which was fun, but very hot!!  One of the moving walk ways was broken too, it was fun to go along the strip in my wedding dress but I was glad to get back in the air con of the Cosmopolitan!

We had booked a private room in STK from 7 -10pm...we headed to the Chandelier Bar for some fab photos and some cocktails.  We had decided against booking an area in Chandelier as they wanted a $50 spend per head and as it turned out it was really easy to get a seat at that time....I hadn’t seen the room at STK before hand but it was exactly like I had expected, private room with adjustable lights and sounds, we had one large table which I went and put flowers, favours, name cards etc on just before the guests came in..our 2 servers were extremely attentive and kept the drinks flowing!  The food was absolutely amazing!!  Oyster/seafood starter, then salad (choice of 3), 4 mains I think, most of us had steaks which were some of the best we had ever had, awesome sides and the a chocolate mousse pudding...we also had a cake which was supplied by the restaurant, red velvet with awesome frosting.  The whole ambience of STK was just what we wanted, private area, drinks package and amazing food, we were there for 3 hours in total, they have different levels of menu prices and bar packages and I think we had the middle priced in each case.  They let us swap out the wine for a different one at no extra cost.  I would recommend STK for either a reception or welcome meal.  A++  After the meal we hung out around the Cosmo to get some photos at the phone, lucky cat, more at the Chandelier...by this point I was feeling slightly tipsy and it took a wee while to get ourselves gathered and head to the next location!

We had booked a hummer limo (again through Presidential) for 2 hours to take us to the Vegas sign and then onto ghostbar...cant remember the drivers name but again they were prompt and cheery....we were actually late for the limo and we still had time to go to the sign for pics and then onto ghostbar....the sign is a bit of a blur but I do remember that we tried to take our own photos which were rubbish so ended up tipping some guy there who took them on an ipad I think and had emailed them to my bridesmaid within a minute!  The sign photos were fab, just not to ones we took ourselves.  Back in the hummer and onto ghostbar....

We had really really struggled as to what to do after the wedding meal, we only had 8 guests who were of a similar age but it didn’t make it any easier to make a decision, I am 100% delighted we picked ghostbar as it was AMAZING!! We had booked tables and table service for 10 people, everyone we dealt with were efficient and helpful...the view of the strip was fantastic, more fab photos, although we look fairly boozy in them...everyone was friendly and lots of people stopped to speak to us. We had tables in the outside area and room to dance, it was just perfect for us.

Think we ended up back at Cosmo about 3am, I have a ace/vague memory of ditching groom to go play the Hangover Machine with the groomsman, where I kinda had a little nap!  Photo evidence of this may have to be destroyed J...

All in all it was a fab day, just what we wanted and perfect for us...we spent a year planning our wedding and looking back I really wouldn’t change anything we had chosen to do....we spent ALOT of money but as they say you only do it once!  Although there has been talk of a Vegas wedding reunion happening.....

Hopefully this is of use to some other brides, as I said I found this website so helpful when I was planning my wedding!

    Lots of Love
