Need help finding the perfect dress for me!

Good morning and Happy Sunday ladies!

I'm on the hunt for the perfect dress for my October 2016 wedding -- & really having a rough time! I'm a simple gal looking for a simple dress. Preferably with no lace, sequins, beads, etc etc.

I recently tried on the Arabelle gown from J Crew. I really loved the fabric, color, etc- but realized I do not think I'm looking for a strapless dress.

I've searched google, Pinterest, EVERYTHING to try to find what I'm looking for. The closest I've come is to this image attached of the Versa bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal. If it came in Ivory I'd buy this no questions asked. I love the flowy sleeve, v-neck front and open back for that pop of detail.

Has anyone seen something similar? Anyone have any recommendations on dresses, designers, etc that might be able to help?

Thought I should also mention that I'm not looking to spend too much! The J Crew dress was $600 and I thought that was a good amount. Although if that David's Bridal dress came in ivory how cool would that be to get a dress for under $200? Hello, honeymoon fund!

Have you checked any department stores? Department stores sometimes have more simple options than bridal stores (and usually for a cheaper price too).

Two birds bridesmaid makes a similar dress to the Versa, and it comes in ivory (but not white, if you wanted white).

There's also the Annabelle dress at BHLDN which supposedly can be tied in a different ways, but not exactly like what you're looking for. BHLDN in general has some nice simple dresses, or even skirt/top combos, but it may push your budget.

I second the department store idea. I bought most of my cocktail dresses/evening wear attire from department stores over the years very inexpensively. They usually carry simple dresses, which is what you're looking for. Try Nordstrom's, Dillard's, or Macy's. I'd also try Neiman Marcus.

So funny, because after my post- I discovered Two Birds! Going to get some color swatches mailed to see what it's like in person, then maybe get a sample dress from there! They already answered my email saying it could definitely be tied like that photo I attached!

Not sure the reaction I'd get if people knew I was wearing a bridesmaid dress... but I don't think I care! Whatever I feel myself in/ comfortable in!

The only difference between a bridesmaid and bridal dress is that the latter is usually more ornate and white. But a lot of women wear beautiful, simple bridal dresses, which might as well be bridesmaid dresses. If you find one you like, buying a bridesmaid dress is a smart option! I have heard that the Two Birds dresses don't look great on everyone though, so it's definitely important to try it on! If it doesn't work out, I think it's good to keep looking at bridesmaids gowns.

Also remember, a good seamstress can always add strap, either thin or something lacy to a strapless dress if that would make you more comfortable in a dress.

Don't make a decision based on a picture. The dress you absolutely love in a picture may not look right on you. I thought i knew exactly what I wanted and after trying on the one I thought was THE dress, actually wasn't even close. I agree with the suggestions of checking out department stores too. Good luck finding your dress!

Recommending Etsy is like recommending Ebay. They are not dress companies. They are simply a venue that various sellers from all over the world advertise their merchandise. Quality varies, especially from countries like China and Malaysia. I would never recommend that anyone buys a dress on these sites.
