What did you do this weekend?

Friday night H and I relaxed at the house. We were going to go to my high school's homecoming game, but we decided last minute to be lazy homebodies.

Saturday was my brother's birthday. The whole family went to lunch and DH and I then had him over for a couple of drinks and some football. It was a sad day to be a Tennessee fan.

Sunday was pretty much the same thing. I cooked and DH and I watched the Cowboys get murdered by the Giants. Sigh. We need to pick better teams to cheer for!

What did you do?

Re: What did you do this weekend?

  • Took it easy.  We had a lot of rain all weekend, so it was a nice weekend of staying in, having sex, doing a few chores, and watching movies.

    Oh and I got a massage :)

  • Friday & Saturday were lazy days filled with movies.

Sunday, FI, my mom and I met with a florist! It was exciting. I think we are going to use her. We decided on the ceremony flowers, my bouquet and my bridesmaid bouquets. As well as the groomsmen's boutonnieres. So many questions I wasn't prepared for, but luckily I had my colors and an idea of what flowers I wanted to use.

  • We went to my parents' beach house for the last time this year.  Lots of stuff was already closed and the red lights were mostly flashing yellow (THE BEST!).

On Saturday I made some monkey bread with Pillsbury Honey Biscuits that I dipped in a sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon mixture.  They came out really well!  For dinner we were able to get pizza from our favorite place where I know the owner and some of the workers.  So it was good to see them one last time on Saturday.

Then on Sunday we just laid around and watched TV.  MIL had gifted H a groupon for a restaurant nearby at the shore, so we had dinner there (SO GOOD) and then we closed the house back up and went home.

Then we watched the stinky Eagles game.  I have definitely stopped drinking the Chip Kelly kool-aid!

  • This was DH's first weekend off (and first days off) in over 5 or 6 weeks. Saturday, we slept in...until 8 am. Then we had to go get DH some work pants and I turned that into getting myself a few things from Old Nay. FTR, the boyfriend tees are super comfortable. Then we went to a surprise birthday party for a friend that night. They had a bonfire and it was perfect weather for it.

Sunday, we slept in again, yay! DH has allergies right now so we kind of just hung around the house and watched TV that morning. Then we went to eat lunch and planned to see DH's grandparents and aunt, but they weren't home. We went and visited his parents and stayed for dinner.

DH got me a mum and a pumpkin and I finally put up my fall wreath. That inspired me to do some new landscaping around the front so we're starting that this week.

  • H and I went to a Halloween party on Friday and I apparently got trashed. Spent yesterday recovering and watching football. And the Bears didn't lose this weekend! :)

  • We went up to Minnesota for a weekend getaway. Among other things, we went through a haunted ship (as opposed to haunted house) which was really fun and well-done!
I had an elk burger and DH had a poutine burger... such things are seriously lacking in Illinois. I also need to track down maple vinaigrette as that salad dressing is to die for.
And people up in MN are so nice :)

  • We took today off so our weekend isn't over yet.

Friday we cleaned the house, went out for Mexican food, and stopped at the store for stuff to make an ice cream parfait later in the weekend.

Saturday was super busy. I had a funeral visitation to go to for my BFF's grandma. I used to stay at their house with her and we would go over and play Pinochle with her grandparents. She was the nicest lady and will be missed.

After the visitation, we had family come over to see our house for the first time, then we all went out to lunch together. DH and I spent the rest of the day playing video games together, watching movies, and we made our awesome ice cream parfait. We layered chocolate brownie on the bottom, then vanilla ice cream, then toasted marshmallows, and drizzled hot fudge and salted caramel over everything, and topped it all off with whipped cream and cherries. It was to die for and we had fun sharing it.

Sunday we went to brunch, which was free for both of us as a moving deal. Then we played more video games, played outside for a good long while (played Horse together, went for a walk, etc), and made popcorn and peach margaritas and watched another movie.

Today will be a lazy day at home spending more time together and just having a blast.
  • Friday, H and I went to Home Depot to do some flooring shopping but after an hour of staring at their options and looking at reviews online, we left empty handed and went to drown our sorrows in beer and mac and cheese at a local pub.

Saturday, I had to go back to Home Depot to buy another can of spray paint (apparently one can wasn't enough to spray two frames...grrrrr) and I also stopped by Joann Fabrics.  I don't know what Joann's was giving away but I had to wait in line for about an hour to get my piece of fabric cut.  That night, H and I went to Qdoba and then food shopping.  I know, I know, we are just some crazy partiers LOL!

Sunday, H had to go help his friend put in a new HVAC system so I stayed home and cleaned out my craft room closet.  I threw out so much crap and it felt amazing!  Then I made dinner and we watched The Walking Dead.

  • On Friday we figured out DH's benefits for next year, and went shopping and out to eat.

On Saturday we had a normal weekend day like I'm sure most of you do with errands and shopping and then DH cooked beef and broccoli for dinner.  I wish we had normal weekends :-( DH only has 2 Saturdays off per month - assuming he's not on call one of them.  No Sundays.

Yesterday I was supposed to get caught up on some work, but I got some stomach thing that I'm still feeling pains from.

As far as football teams, it could be worse... DH is from Tennessee, so we watch/root for the Titans. We have one win this year.  It has been over a year since they have won a game in their home stadium.  Absolutely miserable to watch, but we are still dressed up in Titans gear every Sunday. Whisenhunt needs to go.

So, my weekend... Saturday, we went to breakfast, then took the dogs to the park. After that DH went to run some errands and I sat around reading a book.

Sunday, we sadly watched the Titans lose (again). Then cleaned the house and did some more lazying.

Well, this is the first year we have not been in your boat with the Bengals, so typically I would feel your pain..

Saturday, it was rainy so we laid around most of the day, watched Halloween movies: Ghost-busters, the Corps Bride, the Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hallow. we have a few more to watch on the DVR for this week. H went to the University of Cincinnati football game they won even though they played like crap most of the game.

Sunday: We cleaned the house, watched Adams Family during breakfast, then went to a pumpkin patch since we have not had the chance to with DS yet this year.. it was hard though all the pumpkins looked rotted or about to be rotted. but he rode in a wagon pulled by a tractor, got us through a corn maze, and loved the Minion hay bales. then went to a costume store to see what DS wanted to be, the whole time he was clenching on to a Woody costume that he has already has, (was Woody and Buzz 2 years ago) still wears the hat around.. Then while we were trying to find something to trade woody for, through all the superheros on the bottom, back of the other side (still don't know how he spotted it) he sees Thomas the Train, it happens to be a girl Tutu that I can not alter to make boyish at all, he really only cares about the Thomas not anything else.. So we found on amazon a conductor outfit and I am spending my week making the wagon Thomas the Train...

I was at the firehouse on Friday and we were running ragged all shift. I'm pretty sure I'll be attending sensitivity training here in the near future after some of the things I said...whoops.

On Saturday we helped my mom close down the pool; then I went to the Renaissance Festival with FI and my parents. It was the first time we have ever been and we had a pretty good time. Definitely nice to not have something that HAS to be done and enjoy time together.

Sunday...I ended up getting a phone call at 8:40 that I needed to "come to the restaurant to work a double NOW." We serve brunch on Sundays beginning at 9:00 and FI and I just moved an hour away from the restaurant. I was then yelled at because I wasn't there on time and the owner and manager continued to yell at me for things that weren't my fault throughout the day. I can't wait until my final shift ends on the 1st.

Apparently, the Titans were in the playoffs the year before I met DH.  They have sucked every year since we met.  So, of course DH thinks that I'm bad luck for the team and it's all my fault they are losing. I'm actually kind of surprised that he married me, knowing that I destroyed his team.

  • I've been sick since last Sunday so I've been sleeping and drinking a lot of fluids.

  • Sounds like everyone had a great weekend except @hellohkb.

I've been fighting with FI all weekend because he is super impulsive and decides to do shit without thinking it through.

Sunday night my friends took me to dinner for my birthday so he and I called a truce.
  • And my tv is possessed and goes between Spanish and being in "sight-impaired" mode. So, it's either me trying to translate a language I don't speak at all, or it's telling me every move the characters are making in between dialogue.
  • We went to brunch with my parents and grandparents on Sunday for my birthday because BRUNCH IS THE BEST MEAL EVER. And then I got a Fitbit so now I'm obsessing over that information (apparently my heart rate at home is 70-80 and my heart rate at work is 90-100... So that's healthy....). Oh! I forgot! On Saturday night we went to a local brewery that was having a "nerd con after party" and we drank local beer AND listened to a band from Nashville that played covers of video game music.
  • My friends came down from Philly to spend the night on their way to Asheville. We went to the art museum, bar hopping (including, but not limited to, a fancy cocktail place and a metal bar) followed by coming back to our place to play Cards Against Humanity while imbibing in beer and pizza. It was fantastic! I hardly ever get to see my friends since moving, so I was one happy lady :)

I'm going to try and make up for it these next couple of weekends! :p

  • I studied and did homework all weekend.  Hubby relaxed and provided emotional support because I had a P/F practicum on Saturday, which was nerve-wracking.  This weekend was quite rough.  H went to hang out with friends Sunday night while I napped.

@thisismynickname, where in Minnesota did you go?  I live in Minnesota and have never heard of a haunted ship.  That sounds so cool!  Where in Minnesota was that?
