So I know we perpetually seem to have these types of thread but I'm looking for some info to follow-up a visit to the dermatologist that I had the other day.
I went off of birth control pills in June because I decided to use charting and temping as my method of pregnancy prevention. Ever since then my skin has been FREAKING THE EFF OUT acne-wise- my face is manageable but my back and chest are disgusting, particularly in the last three or so months.
So I made myself wait about six months to give my hormones a chance to calm down and then got a referral to a dermatologist, whom I saw two days ago.
Basically my course of treatment is three-pronged: an antibiotic to kill the bacteria in my acne and reduce inflammation, a retinoid cream to cause my skin cells to regenerate more quickly and a shampoo that I'm supposed to use on my skin that has something to do with yeast.
It's this last part that I'm curious about, because I didn't think to get a full explanation from the doctor- what is the relationship of yeast and acne?
Also anyone else been through a similar course of treatment? Any advice as to how long it'll take for stuff to clear up?
