Can't decide between three brothers to escort me down aisle

Hi All,

My dad recently passed and I really can't decide which of my three brothers should walk me down the aisle. I am youngest and only girl so they all want to do it. I was thinking one bother could escort me to the entrance of aisle, another brother will be waiting there to escort me midway down and the last brother will escort me from mid aisle and give me away. What are your thoughts?

Yes, I know I could ask my mom but I want everyone to be included. Besides, she will be participating in the sand ceremony and giving a toast at dinner.

First off, I'm sorry for your loss.

I think your idea would be a bit awkward and potentially confusing (although it's a nice thought).  I suggestt asking your brothers to be bridesmen and stand by your side.

I'd go for either mom escorting you or walking in solo.

Out of curiosity, why is your mom participatitng in a sand ceremony?

p.s.  The desire to include everyone is a nice thought.  If you include too many people, it gets messy.  And you have to draw the line somewhere..
  • Thanks a bunch.. your comments make sense.

@Sand Ceremony- the mothers of the bride and groom will pour sand into the bride and grooms vases (small amount). Then the couple would pour individual sand into one vase. Very similar to Unity Candle Ceremony where the parents like the initial tapered candles. See link below

  • Why not have all three of your brothers walk with you together down the aisle?
  • Haven't thought of that. How would it look? @Jen4948

It would probably look like four people walking down an aisle together.

Exactly.  There's no rule that only one person can escort the bride or groom down the aisle.  I think it would look like you're surrounded by loving family members.

I would go with tradition.  The eldest of your brothers would escort you.
At my own marriage, my father's younger brother walked me down the aisle.  I had no brothers.
I discourage walking alone.  I have seen brides trip and fall.  This is what an escort is there for! To prevent this from happening!

  • You could walk in with your groom - it's not traditional but I have to say that the one time I have seen it done, it was lovely
  • A friend of mine recently lost both her parents and 3 of her 4 grandparents in the last 10 months.  She has 3 brothers and a sister.  She is the last to be married.  All of the brothers and sister are walking her down together.  It will be hard, but she has a lot of people who love her.
  • If you all fit across the aisle together, walk together. The size of the aisle may be your determining factor here.
