Chairs clash with wedding colors

I'm having trouble settling on the exact colors I want to use. I know I want to have a dark purple and burnt-orange (Wedding 11/5/16). The problem I'm running into is that the venue has burgundy banquet chairs. Right now this is my idea:

Dark purple tablecloths with burnt orange napkins and burnt orange centerpieces with a bit of dark purple. In my mind it looks pretty until I add in burgundy chairs. I don't HAVE to use those chairs, but the free ones are those cheap plastic school-chairs of assorted colors. If I want, I can bring in chairs from a rental company (venue has no vendor restrictions) The burgundy banquet chars are $2/chair. In a perfect world I would rent chivilari chairs, but around here those cost approx $10/chair (Yikes!). Wooden garden chairs also cost around $2/chair to rent.

I've thought about chair covers, but I don't know that I can do that at an affordable price. (est. chairs needed 50-70)

Any suggestions?

  • My suggestion? Move on with your life. What did the chairs look like at the last wedding you were at? Oh, you don't remember? Exactly, No one will notice chairs.

If you do remember, you're probably the only one. I don't even know what the chairs looked like at my own wedding.

  • I thought burgundy and purple would go pretty well together actually.

To be honest, I'm more likely to notice chairs that have chair covers because I always slide off them, the covers slide around, I trip in the skirt of the cover, etc. I'm sure the burgundy chairs as they are will look fine and to PP's point, no one notices a plain ole chair anyway.

  • over thinking.     Besides burgundy is a fall color too and will look nice with your colors.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Burgundy *is* a fall color.

Don't waste your money on friggin chair covers.  As another PP said, they are really just a tripping hazard anyways.

99.9% of your guests won't notice or care about your chairs, and that 0.1% who do certainly won't say anything to you about it.

  • Tell me what colors the chairs were at the last 3 weddings you attended.
  • Nobody cares what color the chairs are.  They only care that there are enough of them for everybody to sit down.

  • My venue gave the option of using their generic chairs that has some pattern in the fabric backs, upgrading to "fancy chairs" or getting chair covers, of which you they had a few options.  Me, being a budget conscious bride, went with the chairs that were included for no cost.  I have completely zero recollection of those chairs at the wedding.  I'm sure nobody cares what they look like as long as there is one for every butt!
  • I couldn't tell you what the chairs at my own wedding looked like. I think they were brown, but I couldn't pick them out of a lineup.

  • Personally, I really dislike that look of the white chair cover sometimes with a colored sash. Like others have said, they are slippery and when I look at them, all I can think of is that someone spent ~$5 on each cover! I'm sure the chairs that come with the venue are perfect. Go with that.
