Wedding Woes

Tuesday

Things are sort of settling down.  We had a busy week.

The holiday was great.  We ate a ton of food and I laughed until my face and stomach hurt.  I just love it when my family gets together.

We did more online shopping than ever this year.  It's hard to keep straight which packages I can open since DH ordered some things for me.

We got our outdoor lights put up.  We had bought a ton of stuff on clearance after last xmas so we had a lot more to put out.  We're almost maxed out on places we can put lights.  DH really likes those LED spiral trees so I'll keep my eye out for those after xmas.

We also put a new curtain rod and curtains up in the living room.  I'm loving how it looks.

Re: Tuesday

  • Back to work today.  Luckily, I have a lot of TV and podcasts to occupy my time while I work.

DH also went back to work.  His day yesterday with FIL took a lot longer than DH thought it would.  He didn't get home until after 8pm and he was upset because he didn't want to be gone all day (he was gone 12+ hours).  He's hoping to get out of work at a reasonable time so he can come home and veg.

It sounds like the kiddo is going to hang out at his friend's in our old neighborhood this weekend.  I think that will be good for him.

We need to go get a Christmas tree soon.  DH seems to want to start decorating for Christmas ASAP.   He was talking about how our 'fall' mantle needs to be changed to Christmas.  This will please DefConn who is *all* about holidays this year.
  • It's rainy and I'm tired, but thankfully the kids are back to school.  M2 was off all last week.  6let had last Wednesday and yesterday off.

FIL came yesterday with 3 guys to work on the addition.  We used to have a step down into the family and now it's gone.  It looks AWESOME!!  BUT I keep trying to take the step and jolting my knee.  The new bath is framed and FIL is coming back later this week to run wire and plumbing.

My dad came over yesterday and we all went to an indoor play place then out to lunch.  I was up at 5:00 and was still running around at 9 pm.

  • I have zero decorations inside the house because it's such a mess.  I do need to get out the advent train at least.

I also have to do expenses for work.  I hate mileage.

  • We got our tree Sunday so it's in the family room, but decorating will have to wait for this weekend.

Last night, Wooz announces "[Cousin] says she got a new dad."  DH and I looked at each other like o_O, and after asking Wooz a couple of follow up questions, she explained "She says her dad was mean to her mom all the time so they got divorced and now she has a new dad."  So that took some explaining on our part.  However, it was sort of funny when I told her that my parents are divorced.  She looked at me like "You're drunk, Mom."  It took some persuading to convince her that Grandma and Grandpa used to be married.  To each other.  I know kid, I can't figure it out, either.

We celebrate St. Nicholas Day, so I'm gearing up for that.  I wish kat was still here to tell her Bumpa story.  But I would settle for David Sedaris.
  • Afternoon. I'm exhausted today. I was a dummy yesterday and took one of my medications a little too late in the day. Unfortunately, it keeps me awake and it takes forever to get out of my system so around 5:45 am I finally felt tired. Yeah. Not good. I doesn't help that I'm stressed out about doing a million things this week.

We're having everyone over to the house on Saturday for a belated birthday party for DD, and DH is obsessed with having some stupid things perfect. In reality, there are a million other things that should have a higher priority but he lives in a dream world. To add on, we have like bazillion other holiday things going on. All this to say, too much to do and not enough time.
