Southwest Burbs Alterations?

Hi Ladies,

Do any of you know of someone GOOD in the SWBurbs that does alterations?

Here's what the Bridal Salon is charging:
- Bridal Gown: $275
- Bridesmaids Gowns $75 +$10 to shorten the length (going to knee-length)

Is this reasonable? Condsidering the dresses cost $100...it kinda sucks that it's more than half the cost of the dress to have it altered...

I know exactly where you got your gown from and I got my gown from the same place. The alteration price is a ripoff so I'm looking for some answers too. Thanks for posting!

I have the place!!! I took all my bridesmaid alterations over the years to this person and have recommended them to a ton of people. They work out of their house studio in Naperville, but they get a high volume of orders and are extremely reasonably priced. I think I spent under $20 to get dresses shortened.

Check them out, it's worth a try:

I went to Sue at Sue's Bridal in Naperville (she works out of home). She's doing my dress (taking in, up, bustle etc.) for $250-- it's all over lace, beading would probably be more expensive. She's also shortening, taking in and replacing the zipper on my mom's dress for $50.

I used to work in a bridal salon. We'd always tell people to budget $250-$450 for alterations (didn't do any on site). Average alterations should be at the low end. The $350-$450 range is more for repairing damage on samples, adding corsets and more major work.
    hope that helps!
