Jill and Jessa: Counting On (Duggar) - Possible spoiler alert

Did anybody watch this last night? Any thoughts?

In case you don't know what it is, basically TLC is doing a 3 part show mostly featuring the two Duggar girls who were recently married, Jill and Jessa. Both of them were also victims of the molestation case that came up early this year. The show is pretty much addressing the aftermath of the whole Ashley Madison scandal and showing what their lives look like after the news broke. It is pretty interesting.

In my opinion, this is the most real any of the Duggars have ever been on TV. I also found it interesting that Jim Bob and Michelle are nowhere to be seen on the show. I think next week is when they are going to interview Anna. The previews look really intense. You can tell she is so broken. I feel horrible for her and her kids.

If you didn't watch, it's definitely worth checking out. It offers a lot of insight into their thought process through this whole thing and how they are handling the grief.

Re: Jill and Jessa: Counting On (Duggar) - Possible spoiler alert

  • @OliveOilsMom I do totally agree that this show was for ratings. But I'm a sucker so I watched it anyways :)

  • I didn't see it, but read the recaps on the freejinger site.    Most people claimed it was pretty boring and a last attempt for Jessa and Jill to be in the spot light.  Especially Jessa who was upset that her pregnancy wasn't getting the same attention has the others.       Most people said, it was a lame attempt to carry the show on, but those 2 can't carry a show.

However, they did say it was the first time the kids were "real'.

Michelle and JB were banned from participating.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I watched it of course - I've missed my girls so much!!

I don't think they will bring Anna on until the last episode, though.

I thought it was weird that they didn't actually mention her AT ALL during this episode.  I mean this is primarily a crisis FOR HER!  It was nice to see that she was with them though, at the party at least.

I was also glad to see that Derick's mom isn't looking too bad, although I think they should have provided more updates on EVERYONE.

I still feel so bad for Jinger, she seems like a lost puppy without Jessa.

  • I feel bad for Jinger.  She was the youngest of Josh's victims.  Lord knows she didn't get the right counseling.  Then Jessa, her protector, got married and left.   I can't imagine what she is going through.

I think technically JoyAnna was, but she may not remember much of it.  Jinger also seems like the most sensitive of them, and that it has affected her the most.

Really?? Like, really really? It's more of a crisis for the woman who married him knowing that he's a scumbag than it is for the MINOR SIBLINGS HE MOLESTED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS??!!???!!?

  • This is why we need feminism. Those poor women wouldn't be in those situations if they were raised with such bizarre family values.

I would say being molested qualifies a person as primarily affected. I don't think Anna got a square deal, but it seems like she could have refused to marry him. The sisters couldn't help being in the same house as their brother.

This show was more focused on the cheating scandal.
