Now I can formally introduce myself!

Hello Ladies! :) You may have seen me around randomly commenting on posts as BrandtToBe2017. I changed my username, but this new one will stick for good!
A little about myself and my FI!!
I am 26 with a 6 year old son, he is 30 with 9 year old and 5 year old daughters. We started dating on June 23, 2012 and have been engaged since May 28, 2015! I just graduated from Nursing school and passed by State Boards in December, so now wedding planning is in full gear!! (FINALLY!!) We have chosen the date June 24, 2017!! We still have to save a little bit more for the deposit for the venue that we are interested in. As of right now the date we want is available but we are aware that the date may not be available when we do have the money for the deposit but we will cross that bridge if/when the time comes. But for right now, we are extremely excited about everything!! Let the wedding planning begin!!
I'm not sure what else I can say about myself, so feel free to ask any questions.

  • Welcome in your new identity!
Have you set your budget yet?  Have you made up your guest list?  Those are the first two things that you must do before you make any firm plans about your wedding.

  • Yes, we set a budget and made up our guest list before we researched venues. We still may have some tweaks to make with the guest list because it is about a year and a half away, but for the most part it is set in stone.
  • Welcome! I hope the date you like is still available when you are ready to book it.

    1. Do you guys have any pets? If so, what are their names/personalities? Photos are a happy bonus!
    2. In the event of a zombie apocalypse, what survival skills do you bring to the table?
    3. Please explain your thoughts and feelings about mayonnaise.
  • Welcome!  What would you do if you won the Powerball?
  • Hey, congrats on graduating nursing school, and with 3 kids, wow!  I know what a relief it is to pass the NCLEX and get that license.  What area of nursing are you interested in?

  • Welcome!! A huge congrats to you on graduating nursing school! That is a great accomplishment. Also, I second the PP that requested pet photos if you have any.

  • Welcome, congrats and photos please :).

  • We have a Cockatiel, his name is Tweeter. We've had him for a year (Santa brought him Christmas 2014) His personality sucks. He's really mean when you try to hold him or even get close to the cage and talk to him. He likes to hiss a lot. We also just rescued an 8 year old German Shorthaired Pointer! He is awesome! He is such a sweetheart and just loves to snuggle on the couch and be loved on by the kids!

In the event of a zombie apocalypse, I would have to rely on my bow and arrow. I picked up the sport about 2 years ago and I'm starting to get pretty good at it!

As far as mayonnaise goes, I have an obsession with Miracle Whip. I cake it on burgers and sandwiches or anything else.

If I won the powerball I would buy enough land to build a home and enough extra for the family to hunt. I would set up a college fund/first car fund for each child. And I'm not really sure what else I'd do with it.

It was one thing to graduate nursing school but it is a whole other feeling to pass NCLEX the first time! It was difficult with3 kids but we made it out alive! :) all of my clinical rotations were in some form of Ortho department and I really loved it. I just started on Monday at a local hospital in their Ortho/Trauma department! Extremely exciting!
  • Welcome! I hear cockatiels are assholes in general, and don't they live forever? Apollo is adorable - DH loves pointers and hopes to get one one day.

However, Miracle Whip is mayonnaise's weird cousin. No points for that.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

  • We have actually nicknamed him "Asshole" lol and yes I do believe they live for millions of years! He is only about a year and a half old! We rescued him from a pointer rescue and it was the best decision we have made, we plan to get a puppy when we get a new home.

If I could travel anywhere, it would have to be the Bahamas or somewhere with really pretty sand and water. I have bad anxiety when it comes to flying, so I've never put much thought into traveling. We have driven from Texas to Iowa and that was fun to see different states and hopefully we will drive from Texas to Florida to take the kids to Disney in the near future!

Road trips are the best, and they are totally underrated in my opinion. In college, my BF and I drove from California to the East Coast and back - 30 states in six weeks (though we only drove to Arkansas by accident; we were in Memphis and went the wrong way on a bridge). We saw some amazing sights that we never would have seen from a plane. There are so many cool places to visit in the US!

  • Sorry about the bird. My best friend married into having a bird-child and the thing is super annoying. Your dog is adorable! Yay for rescuing him! And very cool about the bow and arrow thing. You will definitely be a great addition to team TK for being able to hunt with something renewable like arrows. I'm one of the black sheep here who is not grossed out by mayo/miracle whip so now I'm less alone.  I think there are only a few of us who will eat the stuff. Welcome again!
  • Welcome! What do you typically hunt? My husband and I live in Alaska, and had a successful hunt this year for moose giving us a full freezer of meat!

I think it is wonderful that you and your family can road trip happily.  When DH and I travel by car, I think I'm going to kill him before we get there.  I told him that he has my permission to remarry after I'm gone, but that he needs to take a three day road trip with his intended, first, so she can see it for herself.  He is unbelievable!  I'd like to take that Garmen and shove it ...

  • Welcome!
  • We are in Texas so we mainly hunt White-Tailed Deer. We are considering a trip to Colorado for an Elk hunt for our honeymoon! A moose would be great! I could just imagine how much meat that is!

FI drives for a living and so I think that has helped us when it comes to road trips together because I ride along with him a lot. The kids, on the other hand, were great on the way there but had a hard time with the ride home. We had plenty of movies for them to watch but they were so exhausted and cranky from spending the week with their cousins that only a nap helped them!
  • Salutations!

Do you pee in the shower?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • Well, to be completely honest, yes, yes I do pee in the shower on occasion.

Oh ok. Here in Alaska we mainly have Sitka-blacktail, and we have hunted those as well. H has harvested them before, I have not ever gotten one myself.  They're pretty small though, very little meat.

Yes, a moose is a TON of meat.  They are huge!  One will feed a fairly large family for the whole year.

Welcome! I think this is my favourite quote on TK so far :D

We normally need atleast 3 whitetail to last the year. We got 2 this year, hoping the oldest child gets one this weekend!

  • This was my exact thought when answering that question! If someone says no, they are totally lying!
