I haven't book a venue yet but I am curious, what services did you book after the venue. The photographer? 
Is there a list out there? thanks.

    Think of all the vendors you will need.  We personally booked in this order:

    Venue
    Photographer
    DJ

    Those 3 were booked before 18 months before the wedding, with the venue at 22 months.

    The other vendors we booked closer to, such as the limo, hair and makeup, flowers.
    Anniversary

    We got engaged and married within a span of 10 months, so once we booked the venue (within weeks of getting engaged), we booked pretty much everything else.  Remember, vendors you may like and who come highly recommended can book up early!  For this reason, the photographer and makeup artist/hair stylist were of top importance to me.  Closely after was the DJ and florist.  We also had to find an officiant and wanted a string trio for the ceremony.  And the last big thing was setting up a hotel block.

    Once we get the venue our next immediate item is the dj and photographer.
