TGIF

So we know @CharmedPam  is going to Vegas.   What is everyone else up to this weekend?

Tonight I'm just chilling at home (DH is working).

Tomorrow I'm driving to Denver for the night.  We have a friend who lives in Atlanta.  Back in Nov her dad was hit by a car (in a pedestrian walkway) here in the Denver area.    He is still in the hospital.  She has to fly out here every other weekend to check up on him.  Her mom passed last year and she has a special needs sister she had to put in a home.   So she checks up on her sister too.

It's been really hard on her, so I'm going up to have dinner, drinks and just talk.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: TGIF

  • Your poor friend, Lynda...  sounds like she's been through a lot.  She'll probably love the opportunity to just relax and have some good eats and drinks.  Have fun.

We are going mattress shopping tonight. Rip-roaring Friday night :)  Shoot me now.  Our last mattress is only a year old, but it's sagging already.  At least the store gave us full credit so we get to basically get another one free of charge.  And afterwards, H is taking me to Zinburger, so I'm psyched (upscale burger bar that pairs the burgers with wine- yum).
  • So sorry your friend is going through that.  She'll love the distraction, I'm sure.  Praying for a speedy recovery!

  • I hate that for your friend, Lynda. Hopefully a good old fashioned girls night will help lift her spirits and take her mind off things.

We are having a couple of friends over for dinner tonight. I'm making chili to go with the cold, rainy weather we've been served today.

Saturday will probably involve house cleaning and relaxing. I don't get to do much of either of those things, so I am looking forward to it.

Sunday I don't have much planned other than church.

Monday is a bank holiday, so we are closed. I think me and mom will probably go for a late lunch and drinks.

  • Oh your poor friend!  How is her dad doing?  That is just too much stress for one person to handle.

FI is at a Baseball Coaches Clinic for today/tomorrow.  Basically, he'll attend 2-3 sessions on how to be a better coach, and the rest of the time it's an excused for the married dad coaches to have a guys night out.

I'm going to a local consignment shop to find winter clothes for my niece for when they visit from Florida next month and then working another bridal show this weekend.  I will also likely break into my new Apple Pie Shrub and try it out with some whiskey while addressing our Save The Dates.  Exciting times;).

  • I have no exciting plans other than taking my dog for long walks and trying to clean/organize/purge. I am a boring old lady.

  • Tonight I am going to see a comic at the local college with my girlfriends. I'm a little unsure, as we're almost 10 years out of college. But my friend really likes the comic so it should be a good time.

Tomorrow we're doing dinner and games with some friends. Unfortunately since both the guys are super big Packers fans that means I'll also have to watch the football game. I can only hope the Packers lose as badly to the Seahawks as they did last year. But games and my friends are fun.

After that we don't have any plans. I might make a chili, that sounds really tasty. I also have to make some sort of play for Monday. I'm not working (yay!) but I need to figure out what chores I want to do. Probably a lot of cleaning because we're hosting a big weekend shindig again at the end of the month and the house will need to get all cleaned before then.

  • Homework, surprise surprise.  But there's a Lululemon Warehouse sale in the city that I was thinking of going to.  1 hour line to park and on average 3-4 hours to get in, depending on what time you were there today.  It opened at 8 and people were lined up at 4am.

I however, have a skip the line card cos I know peeps.  I wouldn't go to wait in those lines though.

  • I ended up going with my BFF to put her pup down. We lived together for 5 years so I always say he was my step dog too. FI was the best and labeled and mailed out all the STDs when I was at the Bridal Show yesterday since I didn't Friday.

But for all the pup lovers I wanted to share some Murphy love.

  • Hugs to you and your friend, Kimmi. Putting a pet down is so hard and sad. I am so sorry.
